Why is MediaTek such a terrible company?

1. They regularly fuck over their customers (you want those smartphone SoC we promised we would deliver now? you need to wait 6 more months, and no, we are not going to give you partial refund for breaking the contract).

2. They never release the modifications to GPL software they're using.

3. They go out of way to make it impossible for tinkerers to make custom ROMs.

4. They cut off kernel updates to customers prematurely so they can't support smartphones with MediaTek SoC for longer than 24 months even if the manufacturers wanted to.

MediaTek is now rapidly losing market share because of all this, yet they won't correct any of this shit.

Why?

If these are true, why aren't they being sued?

Their margin is shrinking year-over-year across all product segments.

Thus the collapsing stock price.

Even Sony, which is consistently very good at releasing the necessary codes, doesn't release the ones for MediaTek-based phones.

The problem is MediaTek.
