It's relatively easy to exploit (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploit_(computer_security) ), and it's already been exploited several times, for example recently with the freedom hosting backdoor.

To exploit whonix, on the other hand, you need to, at the same time: exploit TOR itself and escape a virtual machine (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_machine_escape ), or exploit Tor Browser and again escape a virtual machine.
