So I chose Python as my first language and im pretty good and want to learn another. I was thinking either Ruby or C but I dont know which would be better for me. Ive heard good and bad things about both.

Depends on what you're trying to do. Each language has things its better at doing than other languages and things that it doesn't do as well. Choose what you want to do first before picking a language to do it in.
If you're just looking for a general language, something in the C family would give you a good contrast to what you've learned in Python, whereas Ruby is very much similar to Python.
