CloverOS GNU/Linux is scripts that creates a Gentoo image and a packages repo (Binhost) that contains unique USE flags and CFLAGS. It aims to be a fast, poetterfrei, lightweight out of the box desktop.
Updates: New default .twmrc, laptop volume/brightness buttons works via xbindkeys, urxvt has clickable links

I'm not sure if this helps, but this is my setup.

It put the HDMI audio as card 0 (and therefore dault) for some reason. Making the defaults card 1 fixed it.

Maybe post yours or try Googling. Maybe you need to restart the program so it'll reload the alsa settings.

>CloverOS is a pre-riced, out-of-the-box Gentoo that's by /g/, for /g/. It focuses on speed and low ram usage, doesn't have systemd or other service bloat, and includes commonly used software.
>It's as close to default Gentoo as possible, with all of the configuration made in /etc/portage/make.conf, unlike other Gentoo-based distros. The scripts can be used to install it to hard drive, generate a LiveCD and create the CloverOS repo. It's very easy to modify the bash script to make your own Gentoo livecd. In short: CloverOS is Gentoo.
>The CloverOS repo is built with custom CFLAGS for optimum performance, and the USE flags are configured for desktop use. There's some dotfiles in the home directory by default to save time. Packages are built with the newest GCC features such as Ofast, Graphite and LTO. I don't see any other distro putting in the effort of utilizing them, so I took it upon myself to ensure the latest breakthroughs in compiler tech doesn't go unused.
>If you use Gentoo, you'll probably come to a similar conclusion as CloverOS (package.use, installed packages). The original goal was to be similar to CrunchBang, but with Gentoo.

Serious question, what's the point of CloverOS repos, if it is just an OOTB Gentoo, do we have a security advisory or something similar (I'm not distrusting /g/, but from what happened to Tox due to CIA/NSA niggers are able to tamper it)?

What's the point of it if we have Calculate Linux?
>>
>>61266090
Literally nothing happened to tox
>>>/tumblr/
>>
>>61266090
Calculate Linux has a lack of packages and it's still less Gentoo than CloverOS.

The point of the packages is to not repeat CPU intensive stuff across devices, and to have optimized binaries.

One can read this: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/chiru-no/cloveros/master/livecd_build.sh

And then build their own CloverOS repo by copying over https://github.com/chiru-no/cloveros/tree/master/etc/portage
Then do
emerge $(curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/chiru-no/cloveros/master/var/lib/portage/world)

and then run
quickpkg --include-unmodified-config=y "*/*"
>>
The binaries themselves should match checksum (or binary compare) but the packages may not because of file dates. That's basically how you audit it

>>61275591
Stallman doesn't like Gentoo because there's non-free stuff in Portage and it doesn't do anything about binary blobs. Ututo is based on Gentoo and is/was FSF approved.

It would take some work to get CloverOS libre, and it would be done in a separate edition.

Works fine.

As of months ago I built wine without custom-cflags because it was unstable no matter what.
>>
>>61276765
well I'm fucked. wine fucked up something and it won't update. can't play any of them.
>>
>>61276856
Try going back to the regular wine binary. Also,

What's your video adapter?
Does sound work?
Does a 3d program like glxspheres64 work? (emerge virtualgl)
>>
>>61276906
I'll go back to the binary, that might be the reason.
integrated nividia, using the opensource driver.
it worked the first time when I tried touhou 8.
uh..
>>
>>61276906
yeah the binary works fine. fucking wineHQ messing up my touhou games in the 9999 build
>>
>>61247901
Does it come with cute anime girls preinstalled?
>>

Gentoo can filter licenses at any granularity level. Think stallman doesn't limit you enough? Put a stronger filter. Think stallman is a hippie? Reduce the filter how you see fit. Significantly better than simply not having packages you actually need.
>>
I've only ever installed Linux distros into virtualbox using pre-loaded settings. How do I set up a USB to install this onto my cheap ass acer laptop? Someone give me an idiot's guide.
>>
>>61278066
is the laptop BIOS locked down?
>>
>>61277841
What I'd do is make a CloverOS livecd with the linux-libre kernel and put up a separate repo without the following packages, and register a separate domain, rebranding the entire thing. It'd be LibreClover or something.

Package List: https://pastebin.com/raw/JbEMJc6F
>>
>>61278085
Doubt it.
>>
>>61278092
And that would let me submit it to the FSF. I'd also work with them if they find anything I overlooked.

>>61278066
If using Windows, use Rufus. If using Linux, use dd. Go into laptop settings and make it BIOS boot, and boot the usb. UEFI is possible, but you have to do it yourself for now.

busybox slow as fuck, it usable only as fall-back.

I think another good project would be to make a desktop distro based on OpenBSD that follows the Uriel/cat-v/suckless philosophy. Xorg would be the only evil.
>>
>>61278092
That sounds good to me.

You all make this look so damn comfy.

twm is pretty damn comfy once you get used to the controls. I would like to know how to get better multi-monitor support so I don't have to put two backgrounds together to fit my screen.

In case you haven't noticed, you are posting in 4chan.

Anime is the only thing allowed in all boards. It's the written law.

wat do if UEFI boot is the only option?
>>
>>61280843
Edit livecd_install.sh so that it's
grub --target=x86_64-efi
and then do the necessary partitioning. I don't actually know yet. I'll try it tomorrow.

Not him, but same issue
How do I do that on windows, or do I need to open grub?
>>
how do I set the iconbar to the top instead of the bottom? I can't see it, since my secondary monitor is causing it to be displayed lower than the actual resolution of my main monitor.

Np. The binary repo actually has steam-launcher by the way.
>>
>>61282860
yeah, I was having trouble earlier understanding the USE flags, so I set up the overlay, which did not work. I ended up getting the launcher, then the binary. I'll go ahead and remove it since I'm not using it anymore
>>
If partitioning manually, should the install script be pointed to the root filesystem partition (say, sda4) even though it defaults to sd*1?
>>
>>61282966
Yes.

It extracts the system to that specific partition.
>>
So I have it installed and am in the CLI (don't see shit for the GUI, not sure if I should) but I have no godly idea what to do from there. I'm used to having my hand held with ubuntu.

If the .bash_profile wasn't executed, then go ahead and start the x server and twm with
startx /usr/bin/twm

you should now be in twm.
>>
>>61283464
Didn't work, gave me some funky errors, so I went ahead and reinstalled on a completely clean disk
Gave me the option this time, hit it, and now I see the Clover OS background
But nothing else, seems like it might have froze up
>>
>>61283733
right click to see the menu. If that doesn't work, go ahead and restart
>>
>>61283745
That worked, thanks

Trying to install icecat, keep getting a permission denied error when attempting to launch.
sudo gives me a command not found error instead, so not sure what I'm doing wrong.
