Learn how to setup virtual machines. Practice boot to root challenges. Like stuff on vulnhub.com.

Learn C. Learn assembly. Python wouldn't hurt either. Get IDA. Learn how to reverse engineer.

Unironically go on reddit and keep tabs on /netsec/

There are a lot of good books out there you can invest in.

Start doing low level firmware hacking, like the people who used the Intel AMT virtual serial connection to pass data around a LAN without the computers being able to detect it.
