I bought a Asus Strix 1080ti OC edition to replace a reference GTC Geforce Titan X in a system that runs three Benq 1080p 120hz monitors. The things is basically silent pushing those monitors (one for gaming, two for other crap) in any use case that I have thrown at it (simultaneous gaming at custom (near ultra) settings while watching videos). Its paired with a 6700k, neither have been OC (other than the factory OC on the card). Very happy with my purchase. May be a couple years before Volta or whatever have the horsepower to drive 4k at the specs I want.

If you can afford it, go for it. I run a 1080 in 1080p and it's great. It's total overkill at this point, but it's nice to be able to completely max every game, AA settings included, and not worry about it dipping below my monitor's 75hz refresh

I'd wait for Navi.

Dude I've got a strix 970 meme card jammed in a rig that is pushing six years old and it still runs everything at max settings/1080p/60fps perfectly. I don't know how the fuck people build their rigs these days but they sure as fuck don't seem to know what they are doing. How people still have issues running simple shit like 2D games or well optimised shit like capcoms MT framework on a 1080 is utterly beyond me.

I'm running a 1080 on 1440p and loving it's power.

Nvidia definately delivered another gem, it's power consumption is a good bit lower than my 980ti, it's about 20-30% more powerful and runs really cool and its barely audible.

To me it was worth the extra cash because a 1070 would have been a sidegrade.

Most games will run at around 80-95 FPS on ultra at 1080p.

I think you only need 1080 for 4k gaming.

No. If you game 1080p and only have a 60hz monitor then stick to a cheaper card. The 1070 is great but you'll need a solid monitor (1440p or 144hz) to utilize it

I have a 144hz monitor, so definitely will be utilizing that. After looking at side by side performance for the 1070/1080, it really only seems to be a 10-25fps difference for most games, which doesn't really justify the extra $200 I'd have to spend for a 1080 it seems. I dunno.

I use my 1080 for 1080p 60hz gaming.... i want to get a new monitor and have been meaning to, I've just been really lazy.
