Just downloaded conky for the first time and got a theme, and it turned out shitty. How can I tweak it to display system temperature, and make in have a solid black background with a border? And how do I make it go to the left corner and not be in the middle of my screen? i can't find any conky configuration tutorials on google. I can upload the conkyrc file if you want to look at it or modify it for me.

You should get something.
Read/use the files and you should understand how to configure it to your desires.
Most people make a copy of wherever the file is located, straight to their home directory ~

It's running in an terminal window that is
* made invisible and forced into the bottom part of the screen using devilspie
* stuck to the background and made difficult to interact with using CompizConfig Settings Manager
* autoruns on startup using a Startup Applications Preferences (or you can use ~/.bash_profile.sh)

The only problem with it is that you can't click through the terminal window onto the desktop. This isn't a problem for me because I don't keep anything on the desktop.
