No sites I visit is on the list and the ones that are there seem to be misspellings of the real sites which I agree is just so people don't realize the spelling error in the URL.
Why is this a problem?
Getting a warning before you are taken to the wrong site or hiding the reposting of these sites is fine as long as the list is optional and he keeps the categories separated as it is now.

I can understand adding Breitbart and InfoWars to the fake news thing. Those aren't news at all, just news/politics commentary and opinion sites, which is in and of itself not wrong to do as long as you state that that's what you're doing, and they don't.

They're set up in a way that people can very easily tune into their broadcasts or open their sites, thinking they're reading or listening to raw news. That's where the problem arises from.

Yes, CNN and MSNBC do opinion pieces as well, but they have different segments for news and different segments for editorial opinion even if said opinion is vapid and poorly reasoned/researched.

As long as they're not including these urls in the other filters, I don't care. "Fake news" is intrinsically euphemistic for censorship advocacy. Anybody who would install a "fake news blocker" is 100% spooked.

There's no way of making a proper fake news filter because most people have a certain bias.

Of course this guy could stop being a disingenuous piece of shit by indicating that the group he perceives as liars is based on his perspective rather than make it absurdly political and saying "no no, this is the -only- group of liars there is". I am no fan of people like alex jones or gavin mcinnie, nor am I a fan of cenk yoghurt or the like, they're all buffoons misleading people and it shows. And unfortunately some of these people listening to their gospel are just good, but realy dumb people. These news sources are also easily accessible and just make the minimal amount of noise neccessary for people to have this perception that they found out something that others didn't. "These news reporters aren't dressed the same way and they aren't afraid to talk, therefore they might have something more objective to say".

I'm against blocking or censorship of any of these sites but adblocking them is not a bad idea. The problem is that the author of that existing list does need to pull the head out of his ass and start considering that some people might not want Fake News in general, not -these- specific ones. Some convincing might be impossible though in the current climate of chaos.

Well that's the thing, I use adblock plus with the easylist filter and I can still access those sites. It doesn't seem to apply that list by default.

But then someone might request a fake news blocker and still see fake news, because the author of that list didn't want to add some fake news sites. And the definition is still not crystal clear enough that is making some people also perceive that certain news sites are either fake news sites because they fucked up a bit here or there, and legit news sites because despite their bullshit they still are mainstream enough that can afford it.

Like I said I want adblocking on those sites and not blocking altogether because fuck me sometimes I need to laugh at something.
