What's currently the best web browser?
Firefox.

Firefox Beta/Nightly.
Brave on phones.
vivavi
You should try vivaldi, it have a shitload of cool features

Too slow, at least it was the last time I used it.
>>61206162

Waterfox
>>61206179
It also has a lot of dead birds
>>61206069
Firefox Nightly
>>61206162
>>61206179
It's chrome with UI made in JavaScript. So, Chrome which wastes CPU cycles.
>>61206135
I want to use Brave but I can't play webms on sites like this. They don't play unless I open them in a new tab. Any fix for that? It's apparently a common issue since I saw a thread about it in their forums.
>>61206282
>4chan
>in a browser
There's clover for this.
AOL Explorer 1.1
>>61206217
God bless the nightly meme. Its comforting, like a warm blanket or a public lynching.
Honestly i like Opera the most, it feels faster than Chrome and has a comfy speed dial.
I'm using Opera. Isn't that bad. Became kinda buggy in the last releases. Will test some browsers mentioned in this thread !
>>61206069
The Edge
Chrome
inb4 muh botnet
Firefox is Botnet too to a certain degree
>>61206662
Firefox lets you disable everything for privacy. You can disable certain things in Chrome but it will always connect to google. Say goodbye to privacy if you use chrome or even Chromium.
>>61206190
Is this a mock up? Looks quite good.
Firefox all the way.
>>61206728
>He hasnt embarrassed the botnet
Enjoy your crippling freedom browser
Firefox honestly. Got back into using it after using Vivaldi for a long time. Firefox is the king again imo.
>>61206489
Benchmark scores for Nightly are noticeably higher so I wouldn't call it a meme
Jokes on (You)'s i use Edge like a mental sane human
>>61207136
It's shit on android though.
this
>>61206069
Internet Explorer
>>61207161
VS what on Android?
>>61207170
Its safe to assume that its better than Ungoogled Chromium due to update speed. Only downside is that the site doesn't provide a compiled Linux version.
>>61207161
Yeah, Mozilla hasn't focused on the Android version as much as on the desktop version. I think though after they release 57 which will include project Quantum (https://wiki.mozilla.org/Quantum) they will start incorporating the same technologies into the Android version so by the end of the year we should start noticing improvements in performance for the Android version.
>>61207158
it's a genuinely good browser
esp with ublock, it's perfect for those who just don't need all this jazz
also they've changed the way they handle security which is a godsend for tech illiterate parents
>>61207242
If only there was a way to automate a build service and push the code to any platform....
>>61207192
Anything other than UC.
>>61206366
>Unfortunately, Clover has stopped.
Edge.
In 2017, knowing what we know about Mozilla, how could you possibly be using Firefox? You have to be literally retarded.
>>61207371
>using the Google play version
I didn't have a single crash or an error on 2.3.0.
>>61207392
>Windows 10
>>61206606 >>61206646
I like how in Linus' vid on battery benchmark Opera either scored either as much as Edge or as Chrome, depending on battery saving mode. Shit made absolutely no sense
>>61207397
>Clover
>Google play
>>61207136
is higher better?
>>61207544
Yes? There's at least one retard every month complaining about "clover not getting updates anymore past v1.2"
>>61207559
Yes, but comparing your benchmark to mine is kinda pointless since we have different hardware.
>>61207575
Clover is not on Google play. You might be thinking of Mimi.
>>61206202
Same engine
>>61206069
Chromium w/ inox patchset. Anyone else is objectively wrong.
>>61206069
Vivaldi
>>61207620
No I'm thinking of clover and I know it's no longer there. I'm saying there are people so out of the loop that they think the version when it got removed from the play store is the last version.
The one I'm using.

What is the best way to install Chromium on Windows and keep it updated? There are quite a lot of different ways. Please help me.
>>61207397
use fdroid and download clover
>>61206069
Top is Chrome, bottom Firefox. Why is this happening? Both have ublock origin and a few non demanding extensions. This is way too much of a difference.
>>61206069
anybody know how to fix this shit on chromium?
also sites like redtube won't load the video. wtf?
i have pepperflash installed
>>61207993
install gentoo
>>61207993

>>61208082

>>61208094
I will still use mpv to stream until/if a new extension is made
>>61208082
>>61208094
You don't even need an addon, you can just drag and drop links into the mpv window.
Ungoogled chromium
>>61208119
>>61208183
Still I hope there will be another addon like this in the future.
>>61206949
Same here, I was using Nik's Chromium, but came back to Firefox.
Using beta 55.0b6 right now.
Pretty good.
>>61207863
There's a "chromium updater" you can install (runs as a scheduled task IIRC) that keeps it up to date.
>>61206069
Firefox goes ape shit on my system, starts randomly using 100% cpu on one core (sometimes multiple) and hogs memory. What is this?
qutebrowser. what's a mouse anyway
>>61206069
The one you hate
>>61206216
dead birds are neat
Firefox. It has features that no other browser has, like text zoom only and actual smooth scrolling. Personally i don't care if chromium loads pages decimals of second faster if i can't read shit while scrolling.
>>61206093
Fpbp
>>61206069
Chrome. Because any legit complaint you had 5 years ago is gone.
Sorry not sorry you are trying to run it on a 2004 toaster and it doesn't work correctly.
>>61206069
Cyberfox
Who cares. Just have two or more on hand for different shit or when one starts to fuck up.
>>61210357
Is this some underage way of saying you agree?
>>61206069
I used to be 100% firefox but the past two years having more than 4 or 5 tabs opened slows it to a crawl. Like painfully slow 30 second stalling tabs and even after finally loading scrolling up and down causes lag too. I have a goddamn 7700k and 32gb of RAM it makes no sense why it lags so bad. I want to use firefox more but I just can't.
>>61210457
Is this some underage way of saying you disagree?
>>61210358
Chrome was a memory hog back in the day and it's still a memory hog now. Don't you give me that"unused ram is wasted ram!" bullshit either.
>>61210492
I run firefox on an old X60s and it's pretty fast. Not sure what your problem is. Maybe you should enable multi thread in about config.
>>61210663
I just checked the about:support for multithreading and it says 0/1 disabled by addons. Guess I'll have to just disable everything and see what works.
>>61206069
Probably Chrome/Chromium, but I use Firefox because muh freedom.
just tested FF nightly, runs a hell of alot faster than the pale moon version I've been running for the past month.
>>61210949
holy shit. How does stable firefox compare?
>>61206366
>not using Overchan
>>61209345
does this to me too. I think this just happens and you have to close and reopen to fix it
>>61211054
Not as good, I also tested waterfox, and that got a lower socre of 53.4 runs/min
Why is chrome so shit in general but amazing on Android? It doesn't make any sense.

This.
>>61207947
1) websites target chrome specifically, because it is the most widely used. this encourages broken, shitty js/css
2) google domains prioritize traffic from chrome over browsers that "offer a substandard experience" i.e. standard compliant rendering engines.
3) chrome falsifies loading speeds reporting "complete" page loads when it only has partial or out of date elements cached. changing cache settings in firefox or using something like decentraleyes can similarly "speed" page loads.

Iridium.
>>61212417
That's only an issue with mobile browsers. The most google will do on the desktop is redirect you to a basic html page.
>>61212446
No, browsers leak all kinds of information by design, which gives you a unique fingerprint. Things like accept headers (not including brotli) is a giveaway for Firefox regardless of the useragent.

Friend, he was underaged two decades ago. You're both old enough to have kids now.
>>61214684
Iridium is alright but it runs like any other minor browser. The bugs, quirks, and instability become apparent after only a day or two of using it. You won't be tracked until you switch browsers because YouTube won't works smoothly. The only meme browsers worth the download are Firefox and Palemoon,
Firefox if you have a low ram, otherwise Chrome is really good. I use firefox on my laptop while on my pc I use chrome. The ram demand on chrome is ridiculous.
Just use firefox
Open about:config
Search for "http:" and delete/empty all entries
Then you will have a firefox that really never updates and also never connects to somewhere without you knowing. When the next one releases repeat the process, it takes about 2 minutes anyways.
Pale moon
It's firefox if the devs cared about the users
