It's the only Distro that works without workarounds and it's normie-proof resistant. It's the businness card of the Linux OS.
Unity was a mistake, but we have to accept that the DE era that starts from 2011 and ends to 2014 is shit. KDE4 was shit, XFCE is not for a modern PC, GNOME 3 is a meme.
In the future, despite with GNOME 3, ubuntu will be a lot more competitive with the others non linux Oses. I hope they will don't mess again with a new project, like the ubuntu phone or unity 8.
