>torrented several pornos
>realize only later I forget to turn my VPN on
It is over for me isn't it, /g/?
Now my ISP knows what I'm doing and have maybe sold me out to IP trolls. Any day now I'm going to get a letter from Brazzers LLP suing me JPY 1,000,000 for illegal downloading. Worse, it is a crime punishable by upto 5 years in prison in Japan.
Is there still any hope left for me or is suicide the only option?

no charges but they know and some AI has prob already added those torrents to your profile and your complete online profile package got a lot cheaper for someone to buy.

Only if you live in Japan. And anyway, 99% of the people punished for piracy are uploaders, not leechers.
plausible deniability?
do you have (open) wifi and live in a crowded house?
blame the neighbours

In Japan people actually do to prison for downloading copyrighted material. The copyright industry is extremely anal over there.

Yeah but it's pretty rare. If you're really worried though just destroy your storage and don't repeat the mistake.

>not blocking traffic for torrent client unless it's going through the VPN
idiot

This.
Astrill even has it as a built-in feature.

Had never heard of that VPN before so checked their website. Dropped it immediately once I saw broken English
Do ISPs monitor torrent traffic on their own now? I thought most people get caught by contractors or representatives of media companies who check the seeders on torrents and send relevant info to the ISP that owns the seeder's IP.
Also, does American copyright actually mean jack shit in Japan?
Should you be secure if you use a VPN with killswitch + SOCKS5 on qbittorrent?
>be american
>can't torrent freely
>land of the free
