4.5v per cell is rather over the nominal maximum of 4.2, i hope it hasnt been in that state for long. And thats assuming its 4 overcharged cells and not 3 ok ones and one WAY put of spec, you should check the cell v individually on the balance cable. Regardless i wouldnt let that pack out of my sight again.

Get a good computerised charger for fuck sake. How did it get so out of spec. Always balance charge it every time and this doesnt happen, its been years since its beena once every 10 times thing.

Really dont cheap out on the charger, if you go and youtube and see what a lipo pack can do when its upset, it can and will burn your house down. I got some skyrc model for like $100 that even has temperature probes you attatch to the pack during charging to detect thermal runaway and cut current.

battereis are quite complicated but basically if you fully-fully charge a battery it fucks it up and if you fully-fully discharge the battery, it fucks it up.

the battery must maintain a charge between 90%-20% of its theoretical maximums in order to be safe and preserve its life.

batteries dont output a constant voltage, at "100%" capacity it outputs at
4.2v and at 20% it outputs 3.7v. anything above 4.2v and the battery starts to oxidize and bad things happen.
OP:s battery is at 18.20v and it has 4 cells, 18.20v/4 = 4.6v which means
each cell is pretty overcharged.

no no, all phones do have battery protection circuit and stop charging at 4.2 or 4.25 volts and shut it off when it reaches 3.7v. if your phone would actually charge to 4.5v every time you would charge it, its capacity would be pretty much halved.

now if you want to store your phone and not use it. you should store it at 50% charge because batteries do degrade at 70-100% charge but very slowly and unnoticeably

the reason why phones display 100% instead just straight up voltage is because most people would rather have a linear scale of 0-100 than a nonlinear scale of 4.2-3.7
