Best ever? No.

Best for the price point $200 to $500? Yes.
>>
>>61151598
no i mean what are the best sennheisers that was just a random pic
>>
>>61151499
Have had HD600 for 6 months with O2+odac. Pretty good desu. Would prefer a little bit more low end but I guess that's not what open ears are for.
>>
>>61151630
what if i dont have a dac or an amp
>>
>>61151651
I haven't actually tried them without the amp. I'll try soon and get back to you
>>
>>61151672
tyyyyyyyyyyy i have a dedicated sound card if that changes anything. it makes my 558s sound much louder and clearer
>>
>>61151685
Gave 'Hey Jude' and 'Yesterday' a listen with amp and the front of my PC tower. The on board sound isn't too bad, can get probably loud enough but max volume isn't as loud as with other headphones (obviously). I reckon you could get away with using your sound card if not wanting to drop the dosh on an amp. You'd get better performance than what I have with onboard which is surprisingly good desu. Btw the headphones come with an input adaptor so you're not limited on amps if you feel like upgrading later.

I think we just became best friends. Thank you so much by the way for the test, definitely gonna try to get these in the future.

I liked HD380 Pros with switched earmuffs (the standard ones are bit uncomfy and started breaking up)

>>61151966
Lol, no worries mate. Always meant to test it like this. Enjoy whatever pair you end up getting!

Planars can deal with that just fine, open or otherwise. I don't think Sennheiser has any in their lineup though.

Best Sennheisers would fit like the HD600 and sound like the HD800, sadly they don't exist.
>>
I have a pair of 580. Its drivers are same with 600 but slightly less expensive.
>>
>>61151610
Uhh, Orpheus, I guess. HD800S is more attainable though

sure, they don't clam anywhere near tight enough for how heavy they are, they fall off your head if you lean forward

HD 600 clamp is high, that's where the snapheiser meme came from as people were snapping the headband in an attempt to reduce the force.

HD 800 sound is shit, treble is too hot and there's a resonance at 6k

HD600 clamp force is perfect, they fit snug and break in after a few weeks, I wish my HD800's were as comfortable as my HD650's. I really don't get why people whine about it.

HD800's sound great to my ears, but I guess I can understand people not liking the over the top highs. Personally haven't encountered the resonance meme and I have no interest being told how to find it, as I'm sure if I ever discover it, it'll be like a dead pixel and bother me forever.

Only things I don't like about the HD800 is how big they are, how gay they look, how expensive they are and the lack of clamp force.

If I wanted Beyerdynamic ear raping treble, I'd buy a Beyerdynamic.

I love mine. Got Schiit Uber stack.

You don't need a DAC as long as your PC's soundcard sounds fine.

As for an amp, my PC's onboard soundcard gets the HD600s right up to where it's too loud, but not one inch more. I don't listen to music very loudly though so for those who like LOUD an amp is a must.

As for sound quality, I compared the Schiit Magni vs onboard and the Magni is punchier (bass is less sloppy). This was actually more noticeable on the HD558s than the HD600s (but I noticed the difference on both headphones).
