So I finished building my pc and when I turn the psu, a corsair vs400, on it started making a ticking noise, I did use standoffs for the mobo, and checked the connections, should I wait for it to stop and turn the computer on?

It's not shit.

>buying the vs series
You deserve this
The standoffs are made of steel is this a problem?

Don't buy VS or CX series from Corsair, they're shit, ESPECIALLY the VS. If you buy from them, go TX or HX only.
Ideally, you want to find power supplies that use internals made by Superflower or SeaSonic. The easiest thing to do is to buy the EVGA Supernova GS, P2 or G2 series. If it's a Supernova GS, it's a SeaSonic. If it's a Supernova G2/P2, it's Superflower.
You can't go wrong with SeaSonic or Superflower.

I don't really have time will it just not work if I turn it on? Are the cheapest seasonics good?

>Are the cheapest seasonics good?
Yes. SeaSonic and Superflower don't have bad quality offerings, just less bang for your buck.
Their names are built on a foundation of being the gold standard in consumer power supplies, they don't do shit to tarnish their reputation.
