Depends on the workload. It might not bottleneck even the strongest GPU in some workloads, while in others even some of the weakest GPUs will be held back by it.

I think it highly depends on the game/software. Those CPUs are probably much worse than a entry Pentium now, but I think they should work fine with a GTX 750 or even 1050. Note that many modern games won't even open up below 4 threads. And even on the C2Q, it will shutter, especially in CPU bound games.

Mine gives an error about ROM headers on the GPU every time I turn it on, never noticed any difference.

The problem is there's no good metric. You cannot tell if it's a CPU bottleneck without proper profiling (=source code access) of your software. Unless you're physically changing CPU and comparing performance, of course.

Anybody who's using the default Windows counter for that is doing it completely wrong, and actually measuring Mars surface temperature or something. IPC is a slightly better metric, but is also completely flawed.

Don't listen to the retards suggesting anything stronger. It's basically a Phenom II with slightly higher IPC.

I would say a 1050 would be fine. the rest of modern gpus would be too much for a cpu.
