go find a charity like a food drive or homeless shelter or dog shelter in your area that has a shit website, go do a site for them for free, do this like 3 times and you will have a portfolio

once you have a portfolio you will have jobs fall in your lap all day

What about freelancing doing stuff that you wouldn't be able to do unless you did the hard work of studying CS and math textbooks? My professor from university would tell me about how he gets approached by people from the corporate field for some freelance work.

They do it because they know professors in general care more about being right than the money, so its a win-win.

Dude told me he got offered $2k for a project but wasnt interested and didnt have the time so he farmed it out to one of his PhD students to do it instead.

$50 is not a fair price, there's no way it only takes an hour or two to build a half decent, functional (key word here) website. Up until few years ago I was able to make more than decent living off of freelancing platforms doing work in a (then) fairly small niche. These days it's barely possible to earn *anything* on these sites as legions of third worlders have drove down the rates to literally a tenth of what they used to be AND scared away all quality job posters leaving some barely literate faggots looking to rent a slave.

Here's what's going on on these sites today in a nutshell:
