Unless you have some very specific needs, it will be more than enough, also because according to Nokia their products will focus on being as fluid as possible through a clean Android, and will see extensive support with fast and frequent updates.

Also, Nokia 6 is built like a tank, comes with QuickCharge 3.0, and has a fuckhuge battery. The screen is 1080p LCD. Honestly it seems built to last. For the price it's really a decent phone.

I wonder what can compete with it.
>>
>>61121162
Is the G4 Play any different?
>>
>>61121163
No one knows for sure, but I'd be surprised if they don't release Moto X4 by the end of August.

Why the Z2 Play over the regular Z Play though? It doesn't improve much and the battery is smaller, and it's also way more expensive.

Why can't google just make the nexus 5 with updated components? I need to upgrade this year but everything seems so shitty in comparison.
>optimal size for my little hands, doesn't feel like I'm trying to hold a weirdly thin, yet too wide tile in my hand like 5.5" phones and up feel like
>great rubbery grippy back.. seriously 10/10, keeps it from sliding off surfaces
>decent camera, decent photos with HDR+
>solid as a rock, withstands 4 years without a case or screen protector, hundreds of drops (I'm just realy clumsy), and quite a few times getting wet
>smaller top and bottom bezels than some new phones
>stock android
>$350

only complaints from fellow handlets I've seen are
>muh front facing speakers because I'm a nigger and can't use headphones
>muh bootloops because it was an LG

Instead I'll end up paying 700-800 dollars for the pixel 2 because it is small, with probably worse specs than the XL2 (dumb) and it will be an ugly dual-toned, fragile, overpriced mess with big bezels, and no 3.5mm jack.

Because there isn't barely any profit to be made selling $350 phones.
http://www.androidauthority.com/global-smartphone-operating-profits-q1-2017-777468/

The earlier Google Nexus devices were subsidized by Google and sold at a loss / no profit to increase android market share and app store usage, no need for that now that android is nearing 90% global smartphone market share.

I think I bricked my phone, I've got a Xiaomi Note 3 Pro, I flashed this firmware so I could install android 7.1:

(won't let me post a link, but it's the kenzo miui firmware: miuifirmware_kenzo_7.5.4.zip)

But now I can't even access fastboot/twrp, the "mi" logo appears very shortly (like 1/5th of a second) when I power up the phone, and then the screen goes black

Any ideas? Did I fuck up this phone for good?

Any advice on what I should go with?
>>
>>61121799
My Nexus 5 is still running and is still totally viable current day; I know the feeling, and always wanted a real successor to it myself.

Ultimately, I bought a Sprint HTC 10 for around 220 dollars used in very good condition.
Very solid build, high end hardware, great camera, chamfered back gives an oddly good grip, unlockable bootloader that keeps warranty (and S-OFF sadly for a fee) with good ROM support, Sprint variant can easily be GSM unlocked via software, and size is much more manageable than many other new phones and isn't too much bigger than the Nexus 5. Bonus points for SD card slot and top notch headphone output.

I don't regret getting it instead of the Pixel at all, especially for the price I got it used; It's the closest thing to a Nexus in my mind besides the uninspiring Pixel, honestly.
>>
>>61123606
What's wrong with the phones already suggested?

For ~$200 used I'd look for
LG G5
HTC One M9
Nexus 6
Galaxy S6
>>

Depends what you do, how bloated the phone is. I'm not experiencing problems with 2GB of RAM, but with Samsung's TouchJizz or if I did more than web browsing and watching vids it could be to little.

I don't think I've kept any phone more than 16 months. The longest I've gone was between the Moto G3 and the Moto G5, in other words December 2015 to April 2017. I got the G5 mostly because I wanted Nougat and because of the /g/ hype. Otherwise there was nothing wrong with Marshmallow.

Before that I had a succession of shitty Android phones stretching back to 2011. Longest of the bunch was probably a year, shortest was 3 months, although in my defence that one was stolen while I was on da bus. Average was about 9-10 months or so.

Are Huawei phones a meme or not? My dad is looking for a new phone, likes iOS, had to get rid of a iPhone 5S because the screen was too small. Budget of around £250. I think he's used them in shops and likes them, but doesn't like Android as much, and is thinking buying a chinkshit brand could be trouble. He'd get a iPhone 6 but they are too expensive.

Have been on the fence between S8, G6, and OP5. Went to Best Buy today and checked out the G6 and S8. I don't like the S8's software; I feel like I'd have to relearn everything, and I'm worried about the bloat slowing the phone down more over time. I like the G6 overall, but I kinda dislike how the camera app hides the button bar at the bottom. I'm used to hitting "home" when I have the camera app open on my OP1.

Overall, though, I think the G6 is the best fit for me. It's a little more than I wanted to spend, but it should last a long time.

RN3P owner here. There is Lineage available for the Pro/Snapdragon version, but I can't be arsed to download the official chink flasher application and MIUI is pretty nice if you disable the insane "kill any app not currently being used" rule of memory management. Other than that it's pretty good, keep in mind that my last phone was an Xperia SP whose touchscreen would constantly get sticky and require a hard reset, so my bar is not all that high.
>>
Are there any good screen protector for the galaxy s8+? I'm using spigen neo flex but it has the orange Peel effect and feels too rubbery.
>>
>>61129395

Neither is mine. Only reason I'm wanting to replace the G3 is because I've already replaced the digitizer twice because it fails from bad heat management. Basically as long as it will allow me to install TWRP/LOS, scroll through Clover relatively smoothly, and play audio/video without stutter it is good enough for me. Don't use my camera or anything else.

U.S., StraightTalk (pretty versatile, AFAIK)

My main thing is, I want to do retro gaming emulation. Up to N64, would be nice to go further, but not needed. I vaguely understand that 1440P starts pushing phones harder than needed. I also don't want to spend a hilarious amount of money - I don't mind spending for something good, but I'm not going to pay $300 or $400 more just because there's a logo or name on it. I definitely don't think I need anything new.

Specs:
Around 1080P, preferably right at
Snapdragon 820+
Adrenos GPU's have 3D issues, but will do anyway
Micro/SD card slot (yes, I know I'll have to set all save files to internal memory)

The current recs I have are:
LG G5/6
Samsung Galaxy S7
ZTE Axon 7

My S5 went kaput days ago, and I can't

the moto Z play is 250 euros today on the german Amazon.

Should I get it over the G5 plus ?
>>
I'm short on money, going to China in one month, just want a good frontal camera, don't need to take selfies and play shitty game (shadowverse).

What should I buy?
>>
Using the iPhone 7 Plus and the S8+ (Lol touchwiiz) but android isn't my thing anymore.

>Customization
After some time you come to the point that you don't give a shit about customization, I wasted hours doing 50+ klwp setups from scratch and selling them on the play store, trying basic nova+icons setups but nothing was enough. It was just boresome and even when the /wg/ love to suck my dick because of my setups they are just a waste of time.

>Syncing
With Android I need to drag and drop each folder of music (currently have 20000+ songs inside my phone), it used to take me hours of fiddling with windows explorer and foobar to find every album and then move it to /music/.

Now on iTunes I just select the artist and the phone syncs everything by itself.

>Video importing/exporting
4K video compatibility is easier, I can export and import on the go if needed and iMovie allows me to upload videos directly from my phone to FinalCutPro or the desk iMovie version.

>General apps
Modded apps on android are great, I miss the modded Spotify with all premium functions for free but that's it. Now I don't need to spend money on klwp themes, utility apps or icon packs anymore and I pretty much only have YouTube installed on this iPhone.

>Storage
The S8+ only gave me 64gb onboard + 128gb (>buying a 256microsd). However Android has this big problem when it comes to internal and external storage making it a pain between apps and file managers.
The iPhone gives me 256gb on the go plus 256gb on a case + the chance of adding an external sdd drive for movies and general media consumption.

However I think phones are just for calls and everything else is nothing but a fashion statement.

Doesn't matter which one do you use, at the end of the day you are nothing but another consumer that forgot that phones are supposed to make calls and texts.

>sms isnt used anymore around me
>people call me if they want an answer on a quick question or my mother calls me
>whatsapp feels useless I have like 2 friends I somewhat talk to and my mother and sister that talk to me
>watch yt or other video services, browse *chan, browse fora on the go
>some music on it wich is nice I guess
>able too look up prices of stuff at the thriftstore wich is also nice
>microscheme for on the go lisping wich is pretty cool
>browse ebaylike shit on the go and have google maps to show you where you are and how you are able to get to a location wich is also kinda nice

smartphones feel useless to me and I spent 500 euros on this

the screen quality is actually a thing I love about this phone
less battery used and it can turn off black pixel so even less battery used
>>
Is there a decent phone out there with a big ass battery, no more than 5" because I don't need a fucking tablet, a proper CPU that gets 3rd party support and ROMs, and possibly a shitty GPU for greater power efficiency because I don't need to decode 1080p vids nor play shitty phone games?

You know, like, a good phone?

Some Xperias seem to fit the bill, but that's all I can find.

Looking to get a new phone have the LG Escape 3 currently.

US, Cricket for my carrier. Would like something with long battery life and decent camera since I'm a boat mechanic I take lots of pics/video calls for clients who are out of town. Ideally I'd like to spend $200 or less.
