Why do static site generators rely on command line arguments?

there literally is no market for a gui static site gen.
you can't script or otherwise automate that shit properly and it just generally is a lot of useless overhead.

the people who still use static sites are so autistic and stuck in the past that they think command line is still relevant. if you're serious about making a site you install a proper "bloated" CMS with "features" like wordpress. even if you meet halfway and go for some special snowflake autism CMS you'd still save a lot of time

I could automate the whole process in 10 minutes. Create a new file, commit and push and then the rest would be automated. However, I'm never going to have 10000 views per second so who fucking cares? Wordpress is fine if you're not huff post.

GUI static site generators are literally older than WordPress. WordPress was inspired by Movable Type, https://movabletype.com/. The caveat is that most of them are made by small software developer houses and cost money.
