E10K, Fulla2, DAC X6, Magni2 in order of power output with E10K being the weakest. E10K/Fulla2 are powered by USB while the DAC X6/Magni2 are externally powered by the wall.
>>
>>61118275

I woudln't mind a dac. I'm trying to keep below 150.

This thing's on sale right now: https://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=120&cp_id=12008&cs_id=1200801&p_id=11567

It's an amp+dac combo, but not suitable for anything below 80 ohms because of its 10 ohm output impedance. Good amount of power for the price, though
>>
>>61118394
Most of the entry-level stuff are dac/amp combos, like everything in >>61118324.

Personally I use a Fulla 2, but the DAC X6 has a lot of features for such a low price.

it's just to me, the detachable cables is worth $100 already to me because I don't want to have to permanently scar an expensive set of headphones (the Fostex in this case) just so I can have the same, even if it ends up being much cheaper.

i'll probably do a really messy soldering job or whatever I have to do and it'll always haunt me that I ruined the headphones even if it's perfectly functional.

>>

They're a bit too expensive for me. Also I'm getting the 32 ohm one because I want my phone and a new laptop I'm getting to be able to drive it. I'm a poorfag and don't have enough eurobucks for an amp.
>>
>>61124042
770 and 990 are entirely different. 990 have less and it's also different low-end. Don't really know how to describe it really.
One thing you should know about 990 is that they are more harsh than the 770 because the different low end. If you are treble sensitive the 990 are not for you.
>>
>>61124204

I own a pair of K7XX's as well as a pair of HD 6XX's. Wouldn't describe either as "treble cannons"… they have more than other headphones I've tried but it's nothing terrible. I think people who say that are used to more dominant bass and midrange (which neither of these have) so even slightly emphasized treble sounds exaggerated to them.
>>
>>61125274
>I own a pair of K7XX's as well as a pair of HD 6XX's.
How do they compare with each other? Which one do you use more?
>>
>>61120838
I used to have the HD600 a couple of years ago before ending up with the HD800. Plain HD800 need some PEQ to attenuate the 6kHz peak and boost the bass but after the SDR resonator mod was released, I find that PEQ is no longer necessary.

Once you get the right setup going for the HD800 (it's not even as expensive as your HDVD 800: an Apex Arete solid-state amp paired to Schiit Modi Multibit DAC), it's hard to get back to the HD600 which sound lifeless and low resolution in comparison.
>>
>>61125315
Not him but I'm >>61125240.

I've always preferred the Q701 to HD600/650 since they have a larger stage and more aggressive sound signature while still remaining relatively neutral. I primarily listen to EDM and there is no doubt that the AKG is more suited to this genre.
>>
>>61125315
I use the K7XX's more by a good margin. The HD 6XX's clamp is too tight for long sessions, which I'm working on by bending the metal bits a bit each time I wear them. This helps but the process takes a bit.

The K7XX's have a better soundstage, making them nicer for games. I tend to like them better for electronic music (trance/EDM/etc), where the HD 6XX sounds better with genres centered around analog instruments (rock/classic rock/jazz/etc).
>>
>>61125442
>Q701
Is there any difference in sound between K701 and Q701?
>>
>>61124865

Yeah that is a good price. However you won't be able to tolerate how uncomfortable they are. I use offbrand sony XB950 pads

I'd just go with the Somic MM185/Status Audio CB-1 or the NVX XPT100 when you factor in earpad price

Also does anyone know if these are 1:1 copies of the Brainwavz? They look extremely similar though they might not be as thick.

Some anon asked me for review on fidelio l2s once I got them, so here it is.
Starting with build, this is pretty fucking solid, feels like x2 except smaller and lighter, no complains except the fact that the cable conector has 2 proprietary edges or whatever that also plug into the headphones, though you can use regular aux cables just fine.
Sound is pretty decent, low-end is fast and not too exaggerated, there's not much sub-bass.
Mids are slightly recessed, but it's not so bad as to ruin songs with mostly vocals.
Highs are extremely controled and crystal clear, like them more than my hd600s on that aspect.
Overall pretty happy with the purchase, since it only cost me $90, mainly for mobile use and traveling, although they're semi-open, they actually aren't terrible at isolating once music is playing, and don't leak much sound at low-mid volumes.

Tax is percentage based (0,27% over price+shipping) the lower price and free shipping means less taxes
Also customs only checks 1/3 of incoming packages and only tax those, amazon charge taxes at the moment you pay so there's no chance of not paying them
>>
>>61129244
I mean 27% tax
>>
>>61129236
well that sounds promising, that's still a bit over $100 cheaper than buying it off Amazon Canada, and I imagine being next to US should have cheaper import fees.

As of right now I only have fidelio x2s, sony xb1000s, and vmoda xs's.

Even though none of them are hard to drive, I was interested in getting a tube amp because I think they look neat as fuck and when I get better stuff in the future, I'll be set. I see Schitt stacks, etc, and while it's totally in my budget, from what I hear tube amp sound might suit me better if they reduce high's a little bit. Is the Little dot 1+ worth getting on massdrop? DarkVoice? SMSL T2?
>>
>>61130125
Get an accurate solid state amp like a Magni 2 and if you want to change the tonality use a free equalizer instead of buying a tube amp which will be less reliable than solid state.
>>
>>61130125
>>61130143
Er, scratch the Magni 2, just get a Fulla 2 since none of your headphones need a Magni.

I'm not sure though, I want to future proof more than anything, since I feel my current headphones sound good enough on my desktop's decent mobo. M1060s, other planars or sennheisers, would a Fulla 2 do those justice?

Maybe I'll just get a cheap SMSL T2 for my tube amp aesthetic lust and pick up a Magni for the real deal headphones, my budget can go up to $250 ish

>>
>>61130213
Get a Fulla 2 now. If you get a hankering for headphones that won't get loud enough out of a Fulla 2 in the future, you can then get a Magni 2 and use the Fulla 2 as a DAC only. If you got a Schiit stack now you may never end up actually needing the power of the Magni and will have wasted money.

Fulla 2 is not ideal for planars, nor HD600/HD650. If you want a future-proof solid state amp and dac, get an NFB-11.28. Sometime in the future you can get a tube amp and use the NFB-11.28 as your dedicated DAC. I don't recommend getting one of those cheap chink tube amps. You might even prefer the sound of a nice solid state amp over it.

I assume so, but not until 2018 (especially since that's probably what time this batch's shipment will be delayed to because shipping during Christmas season is definitely not going to go so well) and probably at $250 again.

For future reference, it's not just the impedance, you also need to look at the sensitivity.

For example, the K702 has a "low" 62 ohm impedance but it's insensitive, so you need some power to drive them correctly
>>
>>61130869
they've already plummeted in price

HD600/650 and the DT880 (along with the other beyer phones) for example were more expensive a few years ago. Local prices still vary a lot though, so painful living just a couple hours from the US border and get shafted so badly with pricing anyways.

In time I will get even a Sennheiser orifice. For the near future, I may purchase a utopia.
>>

What's that player?
>>
>>61132798
Musicee
>>
>I am going to buy a HD650 for the same price I paid for my HD598
Neat.
The HD598 really does look way classier though, they're a really beautiful pair of cans.
I know Function > Form but there's something nice about aesthetically appealing headphones.
>>
>>61132839
Where do I get it ? Google isn't helping at all.
>>
>>61130018
everything is good except for the sports car chair (???) and then the monitor could be nicer

keyboard is great despite memes, if you actually try it out it is a very well performing keyboard though not the durability of a cherry keyboard for when you autism smash it
>>
>>61132928
Sorry, typo. It's called musicbee.
>>
>>61132851
HD650 and HD600 both look very nice in-person.
>>
>>61133037
I'm a sucker for that goldish-beige combined with burl wood accents. There's just something special about the HD598
>>
>>61133090
Do you have noctua fans in your case?
>>
>>61133118
no but should I
Will they add horsepower to my PC?
>>
>>61133143
No they just make your PC smell like shit
>>
>>61133156
So Horse without the power?
I'll stick with my red LEDs then, I know that's a guaranteed performance boost.
>>
what are the highest quality earpads available? the ones on my hd600 aren't nice anymore and are causing irritation on my earlobes
>>
Quick question about the schiit stack. Just ordered the 6xx and I am doing some research for when I get them in December and I was wondering if all the cables came with the Schiit Stack or do I have to order some cables for my new set-up?
>>
These are really nice, especially for the price, have had them for about two years now.

They're $50 on thehouseofmarley, but you can find them for cheaper.
>>
>>61133307
You'll need an RCA cable for the amp-to-DAC connection, and a USB cable for DAC-to-PC.
>>
>>61133406
USB to USB or micro to USB?
>>
which one's better/comfier between the OPPO PM-3 and the B&W P7?
>>
>>61133470
A-Male to B-Male, same thing you use to connect printers. Schiit recommends a cable 2 meters or less.
>>
HD6XX OR K7XX??????????????????????????????
>>
>>61133572
HD6XX by far. No contest.
>>
>>61133572
K7XX by far. No contest.

>>61133238
The only earpads you should use on the HD600 and HD650 are the official Sennheiser ones. Any others alter the frequency response in a negative way, in all the measurements I've seen. If yours are old/damaged, you can order replacements online

>>61133504
PM-3, probably. I've heard a lot of good things about it.

>>61133572
6XX

>This drop will be limited to 11,500 units. Each member can now purchase up to three (3) HD 6XXs.

fucking shit
>>
>>61133735
K240
>>
>>61133904
Can you explain why you picked that more than the other one?
>>
can the O2 amp dive the Fostex T50RP MK3 to a good volume?
>>
>>61133913
Detachable cable, better comfort, more balanced sound, better for home use
>>
So I should buy all the headphones on Massdrop, right?
>>
>>61133964
Can i travel with it?

I'm not looking on that website but it sounds like you need an oppo ha-2

the q701 is much closer the to k702 in sound, which in turn is closer to the k712 and k7xx. after the k701 AKG changed the bass hump to be higher/broader. this is why the k701 and k612 sound much thinner than the others, they have the old, flatter and more rolled off bass/mids hump. my q701 actually sounds bassier than my hd600 by a bit.
>>
>>61126204
>K7xx is a worthless piece of trash.
it's good but on most measurements I've seen it seems to be less even in the highs than other AKGs, even the 712 which is basically the same from the bass into the mids. it's still a great value but I think the q701/k702/k712 are better overall, though it's a minor thing and not worth the price premium considering how much the 712 can go for.
>>
>>61126119
audeze for much less and not as shit build quality.
>>
>>61130555
>Fulla 2 is not ideal for planars, nor HD600/HD650
why? it gets loud. according to many people this is all that matters as long as there is no coloration or noise.
>>
>>61134925
Planars are power hungry, and the Fulla 2 distorts. It's a low budget solution.
>>
>>61130018
>full-sized keyboard
No you're not
