Guys! I need advice on a dope new computer chair. What are you guys using?
>>
>>61100910
Basic $100 serta. Its alright but I'm also in the market for something decent, don't even know a good price point to start looking. Why the fuck aren't there more threads like that?

I was lucky enough to pick up a Steelcase Gesture for $300 on craigslist from some rich people who were moving. You pretty much aren't going to find that price anywhere, but I will say in about three weeks of use it's proven to be fantastic.

I tried the Steelcase Leap as well and those are pretty easy to find used for cheap and that one may have been even more comfy.

Invest in shit you live in Anon. As someone who spends 5+ hours a day at my desk, it has made my life a lot better.

no

you get one of those high end chairs for cheap. maybe they are being sorted out at factories/universities where you live, or check ebay, depends on the country there are different manufacturers
>>
>>61101336
I use the Steelcase Leap at my office. It's incredibly comfortable. I work 12-hour days and I barely notice it. Perfect ergonomics.

My only complaint would be that the arm rests aren't as comfortable as they could be.

It's a decent budget chair. Pretty good if you're under 30 and stand up regularly. It otherwise has the standard limitations.

and why the fuck don't you confirm that metal joints in case they exist are properly soldered?

Look for a used Aeron chair. New have 12 year warranties and can be repaired. Had mine 20 years orig and only had to replace the gas cylinder once.

Used office warehouses are the best place to get a "good" chair for a decent price. Lifetime warranty, not just leather but good leather, all metal construction. Many of these are $1000-$1400 new but a few hundred used. Pic related is what I'm sitting on now...

This is seriously the way to go. I never knew just how many of these places their are but odds are you are going to have three or four of them around. I live in a relatively sleepy area and was super surprised at how many options were less than a half hour from me.

Had my pick of Aerons and Leaps in really good condition for like $250.

I would go though a chair every couple years until I went to the Aeron. Plus the mesh is cooler to sit on and no ass or thigh zits from sitting on a chair and sweating all day.
This from an anon that would use it 8 to 15 hours a day on average.
>>
>>61108379
On cheap chairs, the pole connecting to the seat can shear over time and snap off leaving basically a metal spike. Looks like it happened to this guy when he leaned too far back in his chair, and it went through his thigh.
>>
>>61109925

>I am getting a herman miller aeron FIRST THING tomorrow

To everyone considering getting this chair, two SUPER important things with this chair:

your feet MUST, absolutely MUST be planted on the ground straight, not angled inwards or outwards, absolutely straight 90 degrees. Get a foot rest or something to raise your feet if you are too short for your desktop (170cm or below)

other thing, it is not a lounge chair. want to relax in some comfy position, lean back somehow, have foot anywhere else or whatever while playing some game? will NOT be possible with this chair. the only thing this chair has for that is the tilt tension, which not all variants of this chair have, but it lets you tilt entire chair including seat back when you lean back, but that's it.

also the arm rests are garbage, they don't go low enough and if you are a certain height, the armrests will bump into the desk and not let you sit ergonomically correct or comfortable

all this said, i wish i went for embody instead and will probably switch soon

Good if you have back problems as its designed to lock you in place somewhat but shitty elsewise.
>>
>>61125461
I do it with mine all the time. Lean back (tension adjust under your seat) and frequently put my feet up on my desk, rotate sideways and game.
Only complaint is the arms loose tension and work their way down and the mesh seat seems to create dust on the plastic housing below. Oh and the lumbar support will crack but not a problem for me though not as supportive as when new.
I'm 6'2" and 200lbs and Aeron has been the best chair I've ever owned but also resold Human Scale and plenty of $200~ office chairs which died.
