How well did he code Windows?
>>
>>61100589
by coding windows
>>
I doubt he contributed code to windaids, but I know he DID write the CBM port of Microsoft BASIC which was in the original Commodore PET, VIC20 and 64. And reading that code shows he was pretty whizzy at 6502.
>>
I thought he just bought the operating system and sold it to ibm.
>>
Didn't he code msdos?
>>
>>61101669
>bought
more like stole xerox floppys
>>
>>61101669
>>61101885
He bought the first version of DOS from another company and sold that to IBM, basic was earlyer. He and Jobs stole/copied the base concepts of GUIs from xerox
>>
>>61101662
So, from the recent threads about Zuck, Moot and Jobs, he's the best koder?
>>
>>61102036
of the lot, definitely; but he's not exactly godlike
>>
>>61102019
Jobs stole GUI from Xerox, then Gates stole it from Jobs

Well yeah, forgot about Wozniak. Anyway, he probably at least did a FizzBuzz in objective-C.

I suspect he's smarter than people think.

He was on the putnam team, and that's not the kind of thing your average coding monkey can do well on.

(this also accounts for the quality of software and hardware designed in the late 70s and early 80s compared to today. there's been a kind of... dissolution of talent due to programming being available to the masses)

I still can't fathom the same mind architectured vista.
compare that with windows NT (which ran on 4 CPU architectures) and windows 2000. but then maybe david cutler was an actual god?
>>
look at the leaked Windows 2000 source code. It's shit.
