Still use them?

I have my Nexus 5, it works, it does what it's told, today i ordered a new case for it. Yeah, battery sucks but that's a poor justification to spend 800 $ on a phone as good as the Nexus 5 was when it came out.
>>
chuck em at cars from an overpass over a highway

Old one died and new one running since 2.5 years (note 4). The trick is to keep using them until they stop working. It's not like I don't have money for a new one or i don't want one in fact I'd love to have a brighter screen these days. What I'd hate the most is a perfectly fine smartphone laying around in a drawer because it has been replaced in an unnecessary manner. I really have no uses for smartphones other than texting and webbrowsing.

all i use it for is porn so i honestly don't give a fuck if gets infected with anything. also the chrome build on my old phone lets me download vids off most porn sites so it's a win/win.

Keep them as backup or give them to my younger siblings who don't have the money to buy new phones. Or just sell them, I keep all the boxes and original accessories for this.
>>
Storing them in my garage for future use. Doing this since 2005.
>>
Just retired my Nexus 5X. I'll keep it around as a backup phone.

Galaxy note 4? You run ROM or stock?
>>
>>61081884
Third "smart phone", had a Galaxy S2 before and a HTC Hero before that, it's my 7th phone total. Thanks for reading my blog.
>>
>>61081703
I use my old Nexus S as a stream player. It outputs audio from the headphone jack at line level and I don't have to max out the volume to get an acceptable signal.
>>
>>61081937
you still use all of them?
>>
>>61081936
Stock. I like the fingerprint sensor and I don't think custom ROMs support fingerprint. The stock based modded ROMs I've tried so far were too pajeet style - not really reliable. I do however use xposed framework for added functionality on the stock ROM.
>>
>>61081771
You got ripped off, son. I got the 5 for my dad at about $300.
>>
>>61081907
I have a crack across mine. Anyone have any experience replacing these screens? Looks easy enough on youtube vids.
>>
>>61081703
I don't get a new phone until the old one breaks.

Got a 5c with a broken logic board and a Droid Turbo with a broken display
>>
>>61082725
Speaking of, does anyone know what would happen if I used an 8gb logic board with a 16gb iPhone?
>>
>>61082743
You would have an 8GB iPhone. This is assuming that you aren't trying to put an iPhone 4 logic board in a 4S or something like that.
>>
I use my Nexus 5 as a front door camera. Separated the camera from the phone which is on a terminal near the door on top of the home security system. Have two feeds connecting to two different computers (work and home) as well as a cell feed that updates me.

It was pretty extensive to set up but honestly it's great.
>>
>>61083316
That's a great idea
>>
>>61083257
So if I used a 32gb board I would be able to use the phone normally?

The board and phone are both 5c

Wait, how did you interface the camera with another device? This would be perfect if you can get it on something with ethernet

My old Moto G4 is a backup phone in case my current phone dies on me.

I also have a Galaxy Note 4 that I'm eventually going to turn into a dedicated music player for my home. Throw a huge microSD card into it and load it up with high-quality music, so I can make use of that good DAC.

As I understand it, the logic board is the main part of the phone, contains the IMEI, serial number and all that. Everything else is just accessories to the board. So you are just exchanging parts from an 8GB and 16GB phone, should work I think

I was thinking about doing something like that, any software or app recommendations? Do you permanently store video feeds somewhere? Are you using motion detection to trigger it?

>>
>Nexus 5
>old
Underage please leave.

I un-Googled my Nexus S, put some free as in freedom apps on it and gave it to my mom to learn how to into smartphones.
My current phone is a Nexus 5 I bought 2 years ago. Need to flash LineageOS instead of CM because sometimes when I use mobile data in enclosed rooms the SIM card stops being recognized for a second, and I get random shutdowns once every 2 months or so. Other than that it's perfectly fine. I'd use it for navigation on my bike too but it gets hot in the tank bag and shuts down, plus battery life is pretty bad.
>>
>>61087979
Because it works just fine.

Obsolete is a relative term.
>>

Wouldn't you know if she discovered the bottles by her screaming and kicking your NEET ass to the curb? IMO it would be far more sensible to focus on deterring rather than detecting. Mustard gas mines behind the door, snake pit under the mat.
>>
>>61087990
You can get an S8 that does everything it does plus more and faster. Plus battery life after 2+ years is shit. Personal experience (I owned an S3)
>>
>>61081703
I still use that. Am I behind the times?
>>
>>61081703

Use them until they die. Still using my '12 galaxy s3 with LineaogeOS.
>>
>>61088000
But you'd need a dedicated app.
I want a printable map that cover an area of 1km x 1km, with enough details.
>>
>>61088017
Would you pay for it?
>>
>>61088003
My battery life is perfectly fine, even after two years. I'd rather not waste $600+ on something I don't really need desu.

It's reasonably snappy, not using the stock ROM or Touchwiz does wonders for that.
>>
>>61088073
Does S4 have removable battery?

If it does, I understand. If not, I'd definitely switch
>>
>>61088063

Keep it around to test out new operating systems and any ARM apps you make, unless you're a normalfag. Then just throw it away and buy a new one, then repeat every 6 months.

>>61081771
I still use a Nexus 5. I put an LG G2 battery in it and the battery life improved significantly.

>>61082743
The 5 and 5c boards are different sizes, so make sure that you're using a 5c board. IIRC Apple never made an 8GB iPhone 5, so you should be good. It'll work fine, and the software will read 8GB of storage as normal. You'll have the same phone, just with less storage.

>>61083726
As long as there's a 32GB 5c board available. If you were to solder a 128GB EMMC to the board of a phone that tops out at 64GB, it would probably fail to boot, or even to restore in iTunes. Or it might work but only address 64GB of that space. You never know. So if the maximum storage configuration is 32GB, you're golden. Just never buy modded, hacked together chinkshit.

Where can I buy broken Nexus phones (for parts) on the cheap?
>>
Nexus 5 landed exactly where all the specs for Android flagships suddenly doubled.
RAM went from 1gb to 2gb, core count went from 2 to 4, screen resolutions went from 720p to 1080p, processor frequent went from ~1ghz to ~2ghz and so on.
The nexus 5 was one of these flagships with the exception that it had a price tag similar to the pervious generation of flagships.
By now there might be a comparable update in smartphone hardware available but it sure as hell doesn't cost $300 at launch. The N5 is the only justifiable smartphone you could've ever gotten.
And this becomes pretty clear when you realize that Google killed off the phone's production in 2015 just because it was too good.
There will never be anything worth upgrading to.

That was partly correct.
We have postal system, it's not utilized.
Same for land telephone lines.

You can order stuff online, however you need to send the link of the thing you want to people who have a postal box.
And those usually charge 30-40$ per item.
And they handle your stuff as it was a rag with no refunds.

>optometrist
You just need a snellen chart, and a machine to make the lenses to call yourself optometrist.
