Do I need special parts? software?
Short answer: You can't
install gentoo
>>61081024
I remember some Alienware about 8-9 years ago that actually had an HDMI-in port.
But that's the only one I can think of, you're fucked pretty much.
>>61081024
Laptop?
You can't.
Install TempleOS
>>61081048
I want to believe!
>>61081082
so there's no special parts I could buy??
>>61081079
I'm new here so i'll dare to ask what that is..
>>61081094
also what is this
>>61081102
Go ask on reddit, summer boy.
>>61081079
>>61081102
Run while you still can from this cursed place
You pure soul
Install Gentoo
>>61081024
Tear apart your laptop and make an HDMI to whatever your LCD screen connector is. Or solder an HDMI-in circuit on to your laptop.
>>61081024
If your laptop doesn't have HDMI IN (very unlikely it does) then you can't
>>61081126
thank you. This is something I was actually expecting.
>>61081114
Fuck you I been here for ages. just never visited this board.
>>61081102
>so there's no special parts I could buy??
No
>>61081024
HDMI capture card. You can play on your computer, but you will have laggy inputs.
>>61081024
If you really really really wanted to do so you get a capture card and hope the latency isn't too bad.
Most capture cards let's you preview the input signal which would let you output to your computer screen
Though some cards have a lot of latency while doing this so Google really well
Now off to >>>/v/ consoles aren't enough technology
>>61081079

>gentoo
>not Ututo XS
SHIGGY MY DIGGY
>>61081203
guessing this is a hardware piece I'd have to custom install or have someone else install yeah?
FFS
USB HDMI CAPTURE CARD
>you're fucking welcome.
>>61081155
Being on /b/ for ages doesn't make you any less of a summer boy. Lurk.
Cheapest way would to be just buy a cheap monitor desu lad
>>61081224
You can't really install it internally.
It's something that hangs off the side
>>61081203
>>61081216
>>61081232
This is the correct answer but practically just do this >>61081244
>>61081224
No you can get them as external units.
Basically a USB dongle with a HDMI in on it.
The problem you're gonna run into is the fact that most USB capture cards have a certain amount of lag to them. Obviously it's better with newer models.(read up on Elgato) but you'd need an internal card in a desktop computer to get rid of the delay altogether.

Lurk moar newfag
>>61081261
The capture card would allow him to break into streaming Bloodborne
>>61081024
Use PlayStation remote
https://remoteplay.dl.playstation.net/remoteplay/lang/al/index.html
Connect Ethernet laptop to PS4
I use it to play PS4 on iMac because I don't have tv

Yeah but he's probably shit at it
So he should pick up an old dvi monitor and just convert that to hdmi

thanks guys. this sounds like it'd be a good idea but I think anon >>61081244 is right. Can't have dat lag. aight I'm out.
>>61081241
hurr durr I'm gonna make problems cause I think this guy is new and that matters for some reason therefore receive my butthurt.

>>61081371
See you anon
Be sure to lurk more though
You're lucky the whole thread isn't just >>>/v/
>>61081371
I'm not making problems. You're just not lurking enough. If you were, as you claim, on other boards for years, you would know this by now.

Very few laptops have HDMI inputs so you can't do this unless you have one of them.
>>61081500
I love this picture but I'll never be in a context where I can use it, fuck you
Lurk more summerfag
>>61081024
Doesn't Remote Play do exactly this?
>>61081102
You could buy a shitty capture card, but it'll have the worst input lag you've ever seen, as they're designed for capture, not not for live monitoring.
Outside of that, no you're pretty SOL.
If the laptop is dead, you could find the part number for the LCD panel and make an interface for HDMI to eDP/LVDS.
>>61082086
Yes, but /g/ is retarder
>>61081024
Laptops very rarely have video in ports. You can see if you have any other video ports besides HDMI and use the right adapters but again they are likely output only.
Short of opening up the laptop, disconnecting the ribbon cable that goes to the screen and attempting to rig up your own adapter you won't be able to do what you want.
>>61082143
>If the laptop is dead, you could find the part number for the LCD panel and make an interface for HDMI to eDP/LVDS.
At that point it'd be cheaper and faster to buy a $10 monitor from goodwill.
>>61082143
>You could buy a shitty capture card, but it'll have the worst input lag you've ever seen, as they're designed for capture, not not for live monitoring.
Or buy a good capture card, cry over it costing as much as the console and enjoy ~1 frame latency

something like this will do it
i use the pcie version to play xbox 360 in a window on my desktop
