script kiddie here, tryna hack a wifi and I finally got a WPA handshake, but on the window in which I typed "airodump wlp1s0mon", not the window in which I typed a string of format "airodump --bssid %s -c %d --write file wlp1s0mon"
In fact, the latter still has the "fixed channel" bull crap
Is this normal?

But seriously, don't follow shitty tutorials on the internet. Always follow the official documentation of the tools you're using. Read throught and try to understand what's written here: https://www.aircrack-ng.org/documentation.html
This is always the first step when using complex software or developing your own. RTFM. If something's not according to the manual or the manual is not clear, then you have something to report.

Buy a better wireless access point if that's the problem. I'd reccomend something like the RBcAPL-2nD.
