Considering verizon is currently looking at aggressive fiber deployments to facilitate their 5G network backhaul.
I doubt they'll give too much of a shit when they're pushing 1gbps to half the north east by 2020.

I don't think darker pink correlates to more coverage, because the area around NYC (the most densely populated area in the country) is light pink, and it doesn't make sense for such a large market to have shitty coverage.
