CloverOS is a pre-riced, out-of-the-box Gentoo that's by /g/, for /g/. It's as close to default Gentoo as possible, with all of the configuration made in/etc/portage/make.confunlike other Gentoo-based distros like Sabayon. The scripts can be used to install it to hard drive, generate a LiveCD and create the CloverOS repo. The CloverOS repo is built with custom CFLAGS for optimum performance, and the USE flags are configured for desktop use. It focuses on speed and low ram usage, doesn't have systemd or other service bloat, and has software out of the box. There's some dotfiles in the home directory by default to save time. CloverOS should be an all-around good desktop distro while remaining simple. The default WM is twm, which allows you to move, resize, minimize/restore windows and launch programs.
If you use Gentoo, you'll probably come to a similar conclusion as CloverOS (package.use, installed packages). The original goal was to be similar to CrunchBang/BunsenLabs, but with Gentoo instead of Debian. This has some speed and memory advantages, as well as including programs and configuration for the average /g/ user.
>>61079413
>any UI I want bro
See that's the thing, I just want one that works and I don't have to use command prompt text on.
Does the default at least work kinda like Win98/7?
These Linux variations will never see wide spread use until they're as idiot friendly as Win/Mac/Android/BBOS10.
The rest sounds good.

did you jump directly into the meme-distros? Most the popular shit can be entirely mouse and GUI driven. Typing accuracy has nothing to do with it unless you chimped out after forgetting how to backspace.
There is very little reason for you to use a /g/entoo-based OS with such half-ass reasons for not using Linux in the first place. You're more than welcome to install gentoo and try again, but you'll get nowhere with that attitude.
tl;dr do some typing practice on keybr or something you donut

Definitely, 99.999% positive.
>>61080046
is the linux kernel that dynamic? I won't have to use special flag or anything? I'm honestly considering it, since it is a t410 and my desktop uses a better i5 and more ram, which wouldn't take forever to do compared to making the thinkpad do it instead.

How do I make this werk?
>>61089069
Do you really need to ask this?
>>61072940
Question for devs.
How do you keep the distro updated with the upstream?
Is it simply using the same repos, or do you manually check and patch each package?
Want to spin my own *buntu distro that's super vanilla, except for some changes to an obscure interface and was curious.
>>61089703
The build server is basically just a gigantic Gentoo install. quickpkg puts together the packages.
Made a livecd but can't seem to get my machine to recognise it (though Mint recognises that it's a Gentoo livecd)
Anyone else having booting problems?
>>61090676
yes I tried yesterday the usb drive didn't boot but I assumed I did something wrong
>>61089638
check your ISO, there have been quite a few times i had downloaded a broken ISO (or maybe it's just bad luck on my side, anyways, it won't hurt you to download the thing again), if it doesn't work maybe the problem is on the storage device itself, try using another one.
>>61076311
>botnet on FOSS software.
just read the source code.
>>61093467
In this case, one would have to build the entire CloverOS repo and do checksumming.
>>61089069

I'm still trying to figure out why this works so I can add something to the build script on the official github.
>>61099087
Looks like it's fixed by adding these files to the root of the iso. You'd need to unpack the iso, add the files, and repack.
https://github.com/TheNightmanCodeth/cloveros/releases/download/0.1/files.tar.gz
>>61099087
>>61099266
I'll do this for the iso on official github right now
Does Clover itself support UEFI if I were to install it into an empty USB hard drive via live CD? Or would I be better off just writing a persistent version of the live CD into the drive itself? I only ask because I don't have the means of installing it to a SATA connected drive right now
>>61099953
It works with UEFI
>>61099968
I just tried to boot into the hard drive after installing Clover onto it and my computer recognizes it as a bootable device, but doesn't boot into it at all. I can access all the files for the distro and everything but it's just a storage device at best right now. Any ideas why?
>>61089069

>>61100276
I plugged in ethernet and I couldn't get a connection. wpa_supplicant isn't working.
>>61101310

>>61101392

Just a few reminders.
>If you are booting the installation iso via usb, set your BIOS to UEFI first!
>Boot up your computer first and then proceed with the installation.
>It will ask you to partition your device and where to select your installation for your os.
>Afterwards, it will ask to set up your username, admin pass, and login pass.
>Once the installation is finished, the installion will reboot your pc.
>If it is still booting up the installation, turn off your computer and remove the usb booter
>Start you computer again and go to your bios setup and switch the bootmode to Legacy
>Save changes and reset
You should now boot into your meme distro! You will know when it works if it asks for a login in the terminal. Just input the username and login pass that you set in the installation. Then it will ask for what desktop enviorment you want and you will be good to go. Have fun!
