Now that CPU's are finally about to get competitive again, this is a good chance to put pressure for opening up the IME and PSP source codes, to allow librebooting on newer machines.
Thoughts?
I've been hearing AMD might, but now they probably suspect they are about to trounce intel so they might now see any reason to..but intel who may be worried now might do it.
They're not opening up IME you fucking idiot, they simply can't because it has third party IP.
better just switch to an architecture without such a component, like some high end MIPS router processors or PPC

Common desktop parts to build these and have them be competitively fast with intel/amd?
>>61065771
yeah I guess really they should just remove these damn things...

That won't happen either because enterprise needs them.
And they're not bother removing them for desktops, that pointless cost to them your whining about it costs them nothing

suppose this is the only real solution
until ARM introduces a similar cuck-chip

Would I unironically be able to have a working desktop installation of Gentoo with an ARM processor?

They could at least include a jumper or something on the motherboard. Remove the jumper and it disables the ME.
I doubt they will though, that Talos project showed there isn't really much of a market for high-security hardware. I hate this world.

its only going to get worse, I kick myself for not buying an extra T500
