Is Xubuntu the truly patrician DE + distribution combo?

A good compton conf will fix this. Minimal effort to get it up and running, if we're being honest.

GNU = DE?
Linux = distribution?
>>61041344
He is still right though.
>>61041251

Nope. Just tested 3 XFCE distros. All had screen tearing.
>>61041237
>>screen tearing
Not the fault of the DE...
Blame X or configure your driver properly.
You are one google search away from finding out how..
>>61041690
I installed Xubuntu on 8 computers in my school this morning and I kept those computers running for hours. I didn't notice any screen tearing at all. Also, if screen tearing had occured, it surely would have been an issue I would be able to resolve through a simple research on the web.
>>61042422
The issue is resolved simply by installing a compositor. It's a known fact that on most computers xfce has tearing issues. It should ship with compton by default.

Kanker op
>>61041290
The one on the right should be 5ft11
>>61041237
The latest XFCE version has vsync in it's window manager. Or you could use Compton. Or you could configure the open source AMD or Intel driver to use vsync.
There are multiple ways to stop tearing.

The height difference between 6' and 5'11" would be much inferior

Something that is not a part of XFCE.
>B-but XFCE is good when you install all these packages!!!2121!!12121!1!!!
Fuck you I'll just install a good DE that works out of the box.

It's a meme you dip
>>61041212
Mint Xfce works way better.
>>61046198
No
>>61046210
Why?
>>61046222
install dropbox in xubuntu and see what happens.
>>61041212

Ahahahahaha
>>61046233
What happens? Also dropbox is deprecated, why would you still use it in 2017?
>>61046240
> no money to afford a cheap usb drive
Ahahahahahah
>>61046174
>>61046267
the dropbox tray icon shits itself, you need to run a script on every startup to make it right
on mint xfce is just werks
I prefer mint mate tho, because it doesn't feel as old as xfce and unlike ubuntu mate everything works great, specially firefox
>>61041212
DEs are bloat. Use tiling wms instead.

No. Use Debian with XFCE. Ubutnu is a piece of shit.
>>61041237
Doesn't happen to me.
>>61041331
GNU = userland (libraries, shells, all the stuff that makes it work)
Linux = kernel (program that handles security, device drivers, resource allocation, and other shit)
DE = desktop environment (window manager, apps, look and feel)
You = stupid summerfag (a fag on summer break)
>>61043241
>so it looks just like it would look if it was a 1080p monitor
If the GUI and fonts are vectors then they will be re-rendrered at the increased resolution and look sharper. The additional DPI is very useful in complex programs like video editors and 3D modeling software.

>The additional DPI is very useful in complex programs like video editors and 3D modeling software.
Used by an incredibly small percentage of PC users.
