They announced in mid june that it would launch in July 31st for the Over Priced version (currently up for preorders for $1200 - $1600), then "a bit later" for the actual gamer cards.

With HBM2 facing a shortage, you'll be lucky enough if you can buy one in autumn.

They say it is on par with a 1080, and leaked benchmarks sort of back that up (the card is on 1070 levels on that, but with a significantly lower clock).

So, over a year of wait for a $1200 card that gets btfo by the 1080ti.

Eh? The leaked benches were already over the 1080. The overpriced launch version is end of June while the consumer is end of July.
