LGA 2011 CPUs are dirt cheap, but the motherboards are so fucking expensive. More than they cost brand new for some grotty used one from eBay. LGA 2011-v3 is the exact opposite, with dirt cheap motherboards floating around, but massively overpriced CPUs.

An i3 will do fine in 'light' multi tasking. Only the r5 and r7 can do real multi tasking because of their core count though. Depends what you mean though. Encoding video at the same time as playing games or having multiple browser tabs open and a game.
