OK lads
Besides the hate and memes which CPU is the best for average user(gamer) if $ is not a problem
>>
1080ti
>>
>>61005145
7740X if you like to waist your $
>>
6 core ryzen is the best bang for the buck for the average user. The 7700k isn't a good deal but if you clock it to 5+GHz it's ~10% faster in single threaded performance, so it's slightly better for 120+Hz gaming if you are using an ultra high end GPU.
>>
>>61005209
Why when there the 7700K??
>>
R7 1700 would be my choice if I was looking for a CPU right now.
>>
>>61005258
10%? Try 30%.

And that's all what matters when gaming. Ryzen is a meme for people who want to support the underdog and watch special olympics with a tear in their eye.

Oh, and video editors and programmers.
>>
>>61005145
Ryzen 1600 or 1700, if you aren't afraid of little overclocking.
If you really, really wants dat ridiculous FPS, get i7 7700k. That said, if you plan to play AND do anything else, get Ryzen (i.e. 1800X), it's better at multitasking.
>>
>>61005145
AMD Ryzen 7 1800X
>>
This thread is terrible, sorry OP, should have gone to the /pcbg/

That said. I recommend the R5 1600 for evrything gaming at or under 120fps.

If you're aiming for 144fps go with the 7700K or the new 7740X. Both are more expensive. The 7700K is a dead plataform and the 7740X is severely gimped in the Motherboard department. So you'll be buying a $400 MoBo for the 7740X, shile using less than half of the available I/O.

The R5 1600 is on AMD's newest AM4 plataform and it's sure to have support for years to come.
>>
>>61005560
Whatever you say shill
>>
An i5 7500 is the ultimate processor for the average gamer. Comparably one of Ryzen 5 processors will do just as well.
K is a meme for the average gamer, the stock 7500 is enough.
>>
>>61005145
Cheapest unlocked i7 system, and modern GPU for gayshit gamers.
>>
I still need a lot more data but the i9 7800 is priced reasonably. You'll need a strong cooling solution.
>>
>>61008472
There's not a single reason to side with the 7740X besides thermals and power consumption. The 7800 has broken 200CB single threaded.
>>
>>61008418
>7500 is enough
>costs $11 more than the 1500x(looking at pcpartpicker right now) for less threads and a shitty cooler
>overclock the r5 and the gap widens more
>gets used 99% in games
>>
>>61008418
Non-K Intel is complete trash.
>>
>>>/v/
>>
r5 1600 or r7 1700
Would recommend the 7700K if it wasn't on a dead socket
>>
>>61008748
R5 1600 best value
R7 1700 MOAR COARS
>>
>>61005405
Ikr
But op asked for the best gaymen CPU and the 7740x is like 2% faster than the 7700k (even if you have to drop another 100$ on your mobo
>>
>>61005145
1800x
>>
>>61008903
Apparently you can get MOAR FPS if you delid a 7740K and OC the shit out of it, but this seems like it's only for xtreme gaymurs that want a billion FPS in CS:GO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul8bxyDiOVU
>>
>>61005145
future wise is only 1700

now wise is 7700k
>>
>>61008418

WEW LADDY

R5 1600
Is the best bang-buck. The main advantage over Intel 4 cores is that you cna actually leave some programs open in the background, torrent or even play streams on a different monitor while gaming with no loss of performance.

A i5 would just die at multitasking and i7 is more expensive for no justifeable reasons.
>>
>>61009137
Who in the fuck torrents his ping rate
>>
Just get a R5 1600 or R7 1700
>>
>>61008385
>but this game doesn't count
>>
>>61008385
The 7700K has the same amount of threads and cores as the Ryzen 5 1500X but it has a higher clock speed (maybe better IPC too?). How come it doesn't have a higher frame rate?
>>
>>61005145
A used 2500k
>>
>>61010707
IDK it's just Civ

Maybe they gave AMD faster RAM
>>
>>61010738
I can verify they used 3200 RAM

More than likely that is it, they probably had Kaby Lake at 2400
>>
>>61010707
possibly has something running that ryzen does more efficiently
>>
>>61008385

>>
>>61008472
>I still need a lot more data but the i9 7800 is priced reasonably.

Don't fall for it, the Coffee Lake i7 will absolutely shit on it and it will have the same amount of corez.
>>
>>61010914
But it has twice the memory bandwidth anon
>>
>>61010932
Not worth it considering X299 mobos are buttexpensive.

If I'm going to jump at Skylake-X I'd be looking at the 7820X at the bare minimum.
>>
>>61005145
it's basically a toss up between the 1700 and 7700K

if you're either strictly gaming (and doing nothing else particularly demanding) OR you own a 144hz monitor get the 7700k

otherwise get the 1700, basically

even if "$ isn't a problem" I wouldn't recommend X299 or ThreadRipper
>>
>>61010964
There's a slew of mobo coming out the following weeks for 200-250
>>
>>61005560
actually, 10% is right on the money in pretty much any workload, regardless of whether both chips are running at stock settings or OC'd to their average maximum on air

you could cherry pick shit but you're not a fanboy, are you?
>>
>>61011072
I think those mobos are for the Kabylake-X.
>>
>>61011131
We don't even know if the cheap-o X299 motherboards will even support the higher end CPUs, or if they'll only support babbylake-X. This platform is beyond a mess.
>>
G4560+rx560

Almost everything on 1080p 60fps at high settings.
>>
>>61011395
Just read money is not a problem.
Then aim for ryzen.
But no reason to waste money though
>>
>>61005145
Best Bang for your buck (now):
A used i7 K-model of basically the last 5 years (e.g. i7-2600k) and overclock the shit out of it (4.5GHz+).

Best Bang for you buck (future-proof):
Ryzen 5 1600 or Ryzen 1700.
While they tend to loose against the recent clocking behemoth i7 K-models, they still have lots of untouched horsepower due to games not being optimized for anything over 4 threads (or badly load balanced games).

Best gaming CPU for current games:
i7-6700K. Why pay 10+ bucks extra for the basically identical i7-7700K?
Also, not recommended as I believe the Ryzen 6-core solutions will overtake current 4-core i7Ks in the near future. So this is only a viable investment if unless you upgrade CPU every 1-2 years, switching to the next new i7K or Ryzen iteration.

Best CPU for creation and multithreaded shit:
Entry: Ryzen 7 1700
Advanced: Wait for AMD Threadripper (and reviews) and then decide between Intel's X299 and AMD's x399 platform

Worst possible purchase:
Any i3 or AMD FX processor
>>
>>61011742
You forgot the AMD APU's with Zen and Polaris
>>
>>61005152
That's not a CPU, but this is bait and you already knew that, didn't you anon? :^)
>>
>>61013684
aren't out yet nor are specifics know of how powerful they'll be (especially the gpu part). either way, they'll be the best choice if you dont need a dedicated graphics card.

I expect the top model to be sufficient for some top 1080p gaming (think csgo, overwatch, dota)
>>
>>61011742
Current Ryzen cannot match the 7700k in vidya. The only time the 7700k gets beat are cherrypicked AMD-sponsored games.

Now that Intel is pooping out a 6-core version next year there is no hope with AMD's current offerings.

7700K can easily hit 5ghz (if you delid)
>>
>>61015928
That's definitely silicon lottery territory.
>>
>>61016029
not really. All 7700K reach 4.8, yet around 50% hit 5.0 around 1.35v. Kaby lake stepping made the silicon much more stable.
>>
>>61014042
Nice self-portrait, anon.
