I want to install Linux on my mom's computer and she doesn't seem to like Ubuntu. Is Mint the correct answer ?

Most important thing is a desktop which looks similar to what they are used to (probably Windows 7/Xp). Cinnamon/Xfce would probably be good choices, so I'd go for Mint or Xubuntu.
