>Assemble your parts list
https://pcpartpicker.com/
>How to assemble a PC, select components & more (kind of outdated)
https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php?title=Build_a_PC

If you want help:
>State the budget for your build (and country if not the USA).
>List games/software you use often, as well as your monitor resolution + refresh rate.
>Clarify your goal for build improvements: lower price or improved specs?

CPUs:
>G4560 - Budget builds (<$500)
>R5 1400 - if you can't afford better or specifically need 8 threads but not a very powerful CPU
>R5 1500x - All you really need for 60fps with power to spare; Don’t get an i5.
>R5 1600 - Best value for higher fps gaming / mixed usage; Get a 1600x if you don't OC
>i7 7700k - Bad value but great at 144hz gaming
>R7/Xeon/Threadripper - Compute/Multitask/mixed use; Not required for just gaming.

GPUs:
>Integrated CPU Graphics - Desktop stuff and very light games
>RX 560 and GTX 1050Ti - Lower end budget cards, drop settings on newer games
>RX570 - 1080p@60hz at high, running most maxed older games at 144+hz.
>RX580 and GTX1060 6GB - 1080p@60hz maxed, 1440p@60hz at lower settings; Go for the RX580 if you can.
>GTX 1070 - 1080p@144hz /1440p@60hz at high
>GTX 1080 - 1080p@144hz / 1440p@60hz maxed, 4k@60hz in a few games; Probably the highest end card you need for 1080p/1440p.
>GTX 1080 Ti - 1440p@144 hz and 4k@60hz maxed/high in many games; You're kind of going overboard with this one.
>AMD GPUs are suffering a lack of stock and Nvidia a rise in price thanks to e-currency miners

General:
>ALWAYS LOOK AT PRODUCT REVIEWS!
>Always consider an SSD. Try buying a large SSD for what you'd pay for your SSD+HDD combined, and add a HDD later
>NVMe SSDs aren't for a faster OS boot, they're for productivity/scratch disk/VMs. NVMe and M.2 are not the same thing, M.2 is a form factor.

I have some shitty, low frequency corsair RAM in my rig right now. DDR3, 16 gigs, 937 mhz. 11-11-11-32. Looking to replace it.

I'm looking at this:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231589

G.SKILL TridentX Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400

Now I know it's good RAM, but I've never purchased RAM with heatsinks before.

I'm also planning on getting a Nocua D15.

Does the monstrous D15 interfere with RAM heatsinks? I guess worst case the heatsinks are removeable and i'm not overclocking the RAM so I most likely don't need them anyway.

Can anyone comment?

Is a 850 watt psu inadequate overclocking a i7 7820k and a 1080 ti? One review lists the power consumption for the overlooked 7820k at just under 400 watts so it would be 700w for just the cpu and gpu. Would I be better off just getting the 6 core for the lower wattage?

Just bought this monitor. I was debating getting a TN or an IPS monitor but went with TN because of the stuff I heard about backlight bleed, etc.

My question is: If all ips panels have bleed/glow etc., why does my phone screen not suffer from this?
It's an LG G5 and has an IPS LCD display, but in low light on a black screen I don't have any of these problems.

Is it because my phone screen is much smaller than a monitor or what?

They both function separately, but when I connect the HDMI one, the DVI one shuts off and goes to stand-by mode. It doesn't detect it as secondary display

I just want to play more or less newer games for cheap price, what GPU should i buy?

From what i understood after couple hours in google:
960 2gb is apparently as good or better than 1050 2gb?
1050 4gb is best option, but a bit too pricy for me
960 2 gb is not really that much worse than 1050 4gb?
RX 560 seems to be worse than 960 even? Why even bother with it...

You don't need 16GB to play video game. 2x8GB will suffice, anything more is a waste. Your board lets you quad channel anyways so if for whatever reason you think "Man I could use 16GB of RAM" in the future you can get more. You'll need a different CPU, though, and a 7700k may perform the best (arguably) but for its price it's not worth it.

Get an R5 1600 instead of the 7600, 6 cores is massively better for video encoding (streaming)
You can ditch the cooler if you do that as the 1600 really doesn't heat much and most importantly the cooler is very quiet. I'm fairly sure it's because the fan is pretty low RPM but regardless noises should certainly NOT be a problem on the 1600's stock cooler.
The 3 additional fans do not make much sense as the parts you picked will not heat nearly enough to justify getting three fans, and it will probably end up noisier as a result.

Can I play stuff at 4K 60fps ? I'm mainly interested in Blizzard games and most triple A games I don't mind playing at low-medium settings if it means I can stay at 4K 60fps.

For programming I think it is superior than having 2-3 screens, thoughts?

Fuggg help me /pcbg/, just finished my 1st build ever, I know nothing about PCs and all seems to be going well, then I find out when I hit the power button the whole thing turns on, but for a solid 45 seconds my mouse, keyboard and monitor are undetected. Only after that does my screen come on and I can access the BIOS & see the windows symbol. For 45 seconds my fans just power up, then slow down, then speed up, then slow down and finally speed up and everything works.

Also when I put my PC to sleep, I can't wake it up by pressing mouse/keyboard, and when I press the power button, the whole damn thing just restarts and goes through the whole of the aforementioned process again. Drivers and shit are all up to date and I haven't messed with OC or BIOS. MSI B350 + R5 1600X if that helps.

Everything else is working fine, though.

The 4k screens are cheap now - 300 euros for 28" 4K 1ms

That's a reboot loop. Try updating your bios and beforehand reset the bios settings (even if you didn't touch anything).

Yeah I suspected needing to update BIOS too. Anyone have any experience with MSI Live Update 6 for BIOS updating in Windows? Apparently a few years back it was bricking people's boards, not sure how reliable it is now tho. Or I could do it the USB way, of course.

The problems are mostly when aggressively overclocking and using more conventional air cooling instead of a giant noctua tower or water cooling. There are some reported random temp spikes as high as 91c for very brief time periods, but those are mostly harmless imo.

The Master Case 5 already has a 140mm at the back and at the front. You can fit one more 140mm at the front, and another one if you remove the 5.5" bay
But this isn't needed in any way, the two stock one are good for airflow and you really don't need more. You can always get a $10 second one at the front if you wan't but it won't improve airflow much. If you add a third there's a risk your airflow ends up messed up as a result (i personally get noticeable hot air pockets in my Fractal Design Define R5 with 3 intake 1 exhaust)
In conclusion you don't need to get any fan. If you want to get one still then get a $10 non-pwm one. Do note that the case doesn't seem to have any built in fan controllers or sata to 3pin cables like many cases have, so might need to buy fan splitters if your motherboard doesn't have enough headers

My whole comment was based on the assumption that you had at least the knowledge of basic informations. Making that assumption was a mistake, but yet you tell me that you didn't need my explanation that provided, although unrelated, useful informations.

For $10 you can get a 140mm non-PWM fans from known brand pretty easily such as be quiet or other brands. It doesn't matter if it's not cooler master, the hole position are standardized: any 140 or 120mm fan can be mounted at the front
Do not get a third intake fan unless you can add a second exhaust fan, otherwise your airflow will most likely be worse as i said in the explanation you did not need.

>>61007099
>My first build, all i want it is playing lol, some home office stuff and browsing.
A Toaster will do. Here's a complete build: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/dXpfZ8
The cooler is optional, only buy one if you want better temps and care for noise because the stock Intel cooler is loud as shit.
Since you only want to play LoL, do some office and """"web browsing"""" you can get away with no HDD at all, 250GB should be enough and if you want more storage you can always add a HDD later on.
Ignore the 64€ shipping costs. Mindfactory has the best prices and it's "Midnight sale" where all orders above 100€ get free shipping.
>Dont know if i should get a ssd.
Unless you budget doesn't allow for it you absolutely want a SSD but SSD prices are retarded right now, therefore i chose the 850 EVO, it's like 5€ to a cheaper but much worse performing one.
>Also which monitor should i get?
24" 1080p 60Hz. The BenQ i chose is very nice, 129.99€ is acceptable and you can find that monitor used for cheaper.

Thanks anyway.
>>
>>61007591
I'd consolidate the data on the 1TB HDDs to 2 TB HDDs.
Beyond that, I'd change the i3 to the newest non-k i7 that boards will support, using the i3 to update the uefi if necessary.
>>
>>61007782
>Why didn't you post this initially instead of that other paragraph?
Because you didn't specify your usage and you assumed you were the average joe that doesn't have an housefire at full load constantly, and two 140mm fans is already great for the average joe. More than that is a risk and generally a waste of money.
Considering you were considering having more than two fans in your computer, making sure you had informations about how managing airflow becomes harder the more fan there is was more important than anything as getting worse temperatures is very easy to achieve when you have 3+ fans
I also didn't realise you didn't even know any 140 or 120mm fans could go into the front of the case so i was quite confused with what you were wondering

More importantly, just because someone doesn't give the answer to the specific question you are asking doesn't mean their input and the information they give is useless. People don't always have answers to the question you are asking, but they might have useful information for related things. Just because you don't ask doesn't mean they shouldn't share the information.

While back light bleed is a lottery and can vary, ips glow is inherent to the technology itself where when viewed from a certain angles the pixels get this silver shimmer and can usually be seen in the lower corners of a moniter from a normal sitting position. Also your right in that because of the smaller screen you don,t notice it on your phone due viewing it usually dead on, while with a monitor the larger it gets and the closer you get the worse the glow becomes.

So a Friend of mine wants to build a pc for photo and 4k video editing.
he said he wanted to preferably go under 1000€, 1100 is the most he can do.
his criteria were:
no amd parts
m2 ssd
min 16 gb ram
a case with a window
i came up with these parts which in germany come in at a little under 1000€. prices in this link are usd tho: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6LXjD8

can i do a better editing rig for this money or am i missing something completely?

not mentioned in this build are 2 more bequiet case fans 120 and 140 mm and the ekl cooler will probalby be replaced by a bequiet pure rock cooler.

For W10 you can get a pirated copy.
Install the OS via the ISO taken from MS site. Activate it using an activator.
Or you can get a legit OEM copy.
Allkeysite sells them for 10.
Kinguin sells them for 25.
Ebay is the cheapest but they are W7 key so you need to install W7 first then upgrade to W10.

SSD chosen for looks since it'll be on display. Sae a bunch of youtube build using it and it was a recommended part.

HP Proliant Microserver. The current Gen8 can be found on sale regularly, and I believe HP often have cashback deals too. Should retail for about 200-250 euro. There's also the newer AMD X3000-based Gen10 coming out soonish. I don't think that HP has announced a date yet, but they have showed it off. The new Gen10 has a backplane for 4 SATA drives (like the older models), but has two internal SATA ports (one more than previous models).

You'll probably have to spend twice as much money to get a mini ITX server that's about as powerful as the microservers. I can't comment on the noise levels tho. If you must build it yourself, Asrock Rack has suitable boards, both with a soldered SoC, and LGA1150/LGA1151 sockets. Supports ECC memory. Silverstone has a suitable case if you care about storage. LianLi have the PC-Q25, it comes with SATA backplanes, but the sliding rails can be a bit fiddly.

I wonder if it's a good idea to buy the 2500k meme with a good coolers for OC.
>>
>>61009470
it is anon
better than either is finding a 2600k for about midway (75€).

Keep in mind faster ram benefits sandy bridge alot too, as much as heavy OC in terms of fps gain.

So compute the overall cost:
50-75 (cpu)+ 40 (ram)+ 35 (cooler)= 125-150€ and you get 80-85% the performance of a modern kabylake on average.

Is this an okay entry-level build? I'm only looking to play some semi-recent games, nothing too intense.
Mostly looking for something I can upgrade RAM and CPU-wise later on.

get a 2600k instead

I personally think is not worth it.

You can et a R5 1400 for $160 or wait for the R3 lineup, which will be cheaper and will have Integrated Graphics.

the reason why i think is not worth it is because the sockets are dead, and AM4 is a brand new plataform with guaranteed upgradeabiity in the future.
>>61009546
yeah, pretty solid.
I would get 2x4GB RAM though, and probably a full sized card at the same price(if possible), for better thermals.

Because I don't have any images for /pcbg/ thread so I feature stefan burnett

but don't put random shitty pictures
>>
>>61009653
The GPU is basically a place holder, I'm just gonna get the cheapest full size 1050 Ti I can get from whatever vendor I end up buying from.

Which windows do I get it's asking 64 or the other choice
>>
>>61009653
right, but it's half the price of a r5 1400 platform for the same performance if not higher in some gayming scenarios

64

This is literally what I have and what I do

Always get 64 bit.
The 32 bit is a leftover from before processors supported the 64 bit architecture. There's still people using 32 bit processors and still people paying for AOL dial up.
