i3 or wait for C3000 atom's?

Whats the point of pfsense?
Why not just use debian or so?
Thats what I did when I built my router.

+SSD if you want cache

Whatever you get it will be 1000x better than the soapbox router the ISP give you.

I used an ITX board and a dual-core pentium. It could be lower-power than it is, but I had them lying around. Stick another NIC in it and off you go. You can make do with pretty much any hardware that's x64.

Shadowsocks? Tinc? Usb modem drivers? Simple web/file server? You dont need it on firewall distro they say.
