can we adress the new elephant on the room?
intel claims the new X series has full avx 512 support

bad bad intel did you really thought that no one would have notice that you basicly pegged your own cpu's while practicly false advertising them as a full avx 512 support cpu's?

intel lied once more?

NO WAY

Haha. This is gonna piss some people off.
Not entirely certain why they care so much about AVX512. I just know they really do.
>>
>>60987784
it was the last castle something amd didnt bother with it too much
and now it seems that intel is selling a high end cpu without even a proper support for its own microcode
>>
>>60987784
Iirc its the microcode used on Xeon processors that lets them crunch numbers harder. Probably see a big boost in consumer CPU's for extensive mathematical jobs like rendering and compiling.

You guys think it's a move to remove the HEDT parts from the enterprise stuff?
There was talk of needing a dongle for somethign else, because enterprise users pay extra for it, so X299 can't have it for nothing.
>>
>>60987920
Again, iirc the X299 platform will only support raid 0 out of the box and require an additional device to support other RAID types including RAID 1 and 10.

Search that up for yourself to find the correct raid types to be support but i know that this is what you're talking about.
>>
>>60987964
Yeah RAID modes sounds like the thing

I really can't understand all those bizarre moves. In regular market conditions when your product can't compete in one field you try to make it more attractive in others.

In case of Intel this should mean making the x299 platform extremely appealing ie with full lane support and 4ch ram for all the cpus. Also no bullshitting with raid.

But what they do instead is just adding more fuel to the fire by counter-consumer moves. I mean, these weren't tech obstacles, these were just dick choices.

intel advertising things they dont support?

just another day on the tech industry

Company is being run by bean counters.

Who is going to even bother supporting anything but the baseline AVX512F and AVX512CD?
>>
>>60991179
Who's even gonna bother supporting it at all when half the performance instructions are missing on X processor.
>>
>>60988186
AVX-512-F: F for Foundation
AVX-512-BW: Support for 512-bit Word support
AVX-512-CD: Conflict Detect (loop vectorization with possible conflicts)
AVX-512-DQ: More instructions for double/quad math operations
AVX-512-ER: Exponential and Reciprocal
AVX-512-IFMA: Integer Fused Multiply Add with 52-bit precision
AVX-512-PF: Prefetch Instructions
AVX-512-VBMI: Vector Byte Manipulation Instructions
AVX-512-VL: Foundation plus <512-bit vector length support
AVX-512-4VNNIW: Vector Neural Network Instructions Word (variable precision)
AVX-512-4FMAPS: Fused Multiply Accumulation Packed Single precision
>>
Not many applications support AVX anyways until it's available for any CPU including Celeron.
>>
>>60991179
well i dont know the company that claims full support and yet doesnt even have half of it
