Unlike Intel, Nvidia actually pushes innovation and generally behaves like they have to give an effort to stay competitive. I highly doubt Vega is going to be a miracle release like Ryzen. I'm going be surprised if it beats 1080 Ti performance at launch with the new architecture and drivers.

The main issue Is we likely never got top binning, we have seen some of the in the wild gpus with high binning do what amd showed off, gamers likely never got to touch those gpus.
