So I chose Ubuntu as babbys first Linux to dualboot with Windows 10 on my HP craptop. The thing is I have to walk the BIOS to the right EFI every time i wanna boot Ubuntu. I would like to run grubx64.efi by default. The BIOS offers a customized boot path option which I have set to highest priority, that should work, right? Now what path do I actually type in? How stable is Unity on Arch? and is Arch by default only going to download stable updates or do you have to set this up? Probably going to get insulted for this, but does desktop GNU/Linux have any audio enhancement software? When I am using Windows I tend to use this Dolby thing that makes dialogue crisper and normalizes volume, and on Android I use Viper for similar purposes. Watching videos/listening to music on GNU/Linux has seemed lackluster in comparison.

I'm really tired of Windows, I've using linux on my workstation(laptop) since about a year but now want to change my desktop to linux too.
My only concern is the drivers for my RX 470 and i7 7700. I don't play video games too much but I'll probably install Portal 2 and Payday 2 via Steam and want to have a decent 1080p60 perform.

Opinion on solus long-term? I've been using it in a VM for about a week and my ThinkPad finally arrived so I was going to replace windows completely for solus. I haven't bumped into any issues yet but I've heard there can be some problems with dual booting it with windows and some uefi issues.

Ryzen works well with Linux kernel 4.10 and up right? Any concerns that I should be aware of? Gonna run the lastest build of Arch on a 1700X.

Also would like to run Arch over thunderbolt on my MacBook air. 4gb model. Any issues with the trackpad? Mainly concerned about left and right click functionality and up-down scrolling. Better to just use a mouse?

As DEs go, you generally can't go wrong with xfce. I hear lxqt isn't quite ready yet, otherwise it would be a good option too.
