What software /g/ uses to transcode audio files?
I've been looking to convert my mp3 collection to opus, but can't find botnet free way to do so.

Don't know what you mean with "botnet free way" but you can convert your mp3 files to opus with Foobar2000.

just delete your MP3 collection, download FLAC albums, then convert using ffmpeg

You shouldn't convert to Opus from MP3, just keep the MP3s as is.
If you have lossless sources, you can convert those to Opus for portability. Ie, lossless on your desktop / NAS, Opus on your phone.

also, no reason to use opus. stick with mp3.

you can't convert lossy to lossy, you dumbass. first you encode all your mp3's to flac so it becomes lossless, THEN you convert it to opus, otherwise you'll suffer quality loss
