Use CentOS/RHEL/Scientific then.

Arch, Ubuntu (non LTS), Fedora, Debian Stretch, are all great for desktops, where the latest and greatest is the name of the game, but stability is not their strong suit.

Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, fuck even CentOS *can* be upgraded. But put a complext configuration on there and get back to me when nothing breaks and you're not left with cruft.

Most of my shit is running on ephemeral containers anyway

Did you miss where I mentioned Debian ships with no nonfree by default? You have to download the unofficial nonfree CD to have nonfree wifi in your install environment.
