You do realize that the military and intelligence community is made of American citizens?
In my dealings with the Army + Marines, most of the guys are big on 2nd amendment rights and personal freedoms. Us Navy/AF guys aren't far off.

It would be basically impossible to order the US military to subjugate the nation.

I'd rather take that, than accept hundreds of thousands of unvetted refugees into my country to establish a Muslim state.

Most Americans are huge on personal freedoms, allowing you to do whatever you want as long as you don't intrude on someone else.

Also, keep in mind that the US is the size of your entire continent and your experience will vary. Living in Detroit is going to be very different than San Francisco, or Denver, or the Midwest, or Atlanta.

This is the point that everyone in this thread is missing. The reason that ISP can institute bullshit is because they have protected themselves via local and state laws, banning competition.

That's why even google fiber had to stop. They were wasting enormous amounts of money trying to fight teleco giants in court over every single pole they used.

This is a wild potato, Solanum chacoense. It is small, very bitter, and almost completely worthless as foodstuff. Through selective breeding (genetic modifications), we have the common potato, Solanum tuberosum. Almost every "natural" plant we eat has been genetically modified through selective breeding for resistances against disease, increased yield, and ease of growth. If one is okay with that, it's hard to justify an anti-GMO stance.

GMOs are generally produced by inserting genes of bacterias or viruses to transplant higher yield field, resistence and other valuable features. These modifications cause mutations on an unpredictable scale, such as decrease in nutritional values, increase in toxicity, differences in the taste, very big or very small fruits and so on. GMOs are cancer. Do not consume GMOs.

15 Years goes into taking bacteria, splicing it with 1 gene, growing a crop with it, then backbreeding it. It is a lot more careful than you may think, especially compared to the old method of blasting a plant with radiation, and hoping that it will mutate the way we want, which has the effects of what you said(toxicity, unpredictability, and so on)

>this entire GMO argument
ITT retardation

>HFCS
Artificial, not GMO. It's glucose mixed with fructose, and it's derived from corn. Normal sugar is glucose and fructose bound together chemically, extracted from sugar cane or sugar beet. There are dubious claims that HFCS causes obesity more than normal sugar. It also tastes a bit different.

>sugar derived from GMO plants is bad
It's sugar. Glucose and fructose, or in the case of "real" sugar, bound together as sucrose. Whatever plant produced it, it's the same chemical, atom for atom.

It doesn't even contain the plant's DNA, and even if it did, it wouldn't matter whether it's been genitically modified since we don't absorb DNA sequences from what we eat. We digest consumed DNA into the chemicals it's made from, and build our own DNA out of it. An analogy would be complaining about what had been written on your recycled paper before it was recycled.

>corn, bananas, etc. wouldn't exist without GMO
Most of this stuff has been done through more traditional breeding techniques. That is, we manipulate plants by selecting ones that have characteristics we like, and breeding them together. Over thousands of generations, this makes far different plants than we started with. Yes, it's still corn, but each ear is much bigger, sweeter, more of them per acre, and they're more resistant to bugs.

We also accomplish some of the same, but quicker, through GMO. We splice in genes from other species. Even if that species isn't edible, the thing that the gene codes for is, or isn't found in the part of the plant we eat.

2nd, I can't foresee this happening without making local legislators job very unbearable.

In 2008, word got around that Time Warner (now Spectrum), a monopoly in western NY, was going to be testing data caps. Before they could officially announce it, so many people complained to their local legislators that Chuck Schumer (i hate this guy, even though he did something good), immediately put a stop to it, and it never saw the light of day.

There was a massive case about this. They wanted to split MS up into like Windows, IE, etc., when they were running away with the browser market by bundling IE with Windows. Few saw any reason to install anything else when the computer already came with a browser. Makers of other browsers like Netscape thought it was unfair.

Microsoft won the case and weren't split up.

If this happens, most WANs would fracture. People would form their own LANs to replace them, emphasis would shift from subsidized global internets backed by tier 1 ISPs to smaller regional FOSS internets with independent tiers which would get backed by smaller companies looking to advertise and get seen.

It wouldn't be the end of everything, it would just create a high-end high-speed capitalist internet for rich faggots and/or the middle-class, while poorfags (90% of the population) would have to use much smaller, shittier regional internets.

I'll admit I haven't kept up with any of this, but wasn't the federal net neutrality law just repealed? Shouldn't this just force state governments to implement their own? Like how things were supposed to work?
>>
>>60966024
No, your computer is the car, you already paid for the roads, and all the places you go also pay for the roads. Now the road company wants to charge you more even though they're making a killing already. Normally capitalism would kill this because people would switch to a competitor who didn't rape you, but because of mafia style turf deals between providers, you only ever have one real option for internet.

What really needs to happen is Comcast, Spectrum, etc. need to be completely fucking destroyed. My vote is to neuter the bastards by creating an open market for bandwidth. Put the screws on what it really costs for lines/service, and let any company buy bandwidth from major international providers and sell it to consumers. A similar thing has happened to many areas with electricity production/distribution, and it works well to keep jew providers from jacking rates for sheer profit on a captive consumer base.

This one I can actually understand, as long as you come from a formerly European controlled country where descendants of those Europeans are still in control (US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc.) You pretty much have to believe that land is just land and that immigration is good in every case or else you frame your entire country's history on pretty much being a history of the bad guy winning where you and your ancestors are the bad guys. That's an ugly truth most people don't want to face and so, to protect egos, immigration must be good in all forms.

For the life of me though, I can't understand why any country in Europe would agree to that shit, except to play "follow the leader" with the US.

I pay $200/mo for internet and TV. I believe my advertised speed is 50Mbps down. I rarely get above 20. The upload is so low it's not even worth mentioning. Increasingly there is much more downtime and disconnections than there used to be. Latency has increased. On top of all that customer service is not remotely helpful and has on multiple occasions has blatantly lied to me. I have been told they would reduce my bill and instead my bill increased, and not after a few months. The very next billing cycle. I have been told my speed would be increased. It's safe to say that never happened. Every time I complain it falls of deaf ears.

>well why don't you switch ISP?

I have fuck all choice. There are only about two other ISPs available and they are both equally bad as Comcast or worse. The pricing is no better, the speeds are no better, and judging by the complaints of their customers the service is no better. So basically American ISPs are a monopoly and you don't actually have choices just the illusion of choice, and they know it. Comcast doesn't care that you drop their service and switch to Frontier because they know you will eventually be back. Once you get past the promo period where the pricing is cheap you start paying out the ass, your speeds drop, and the customer service goes to shit. Then eventually you say fuck it and switch back to Comcast hoping shit got better. It didn't.

Doesn't necessarily mean gmo. Those characteristics were bred into supermarket variety tomatoes long before gmo was a thing, mainly for shelf life. Real tomatoes are seasonal. Supermarket tomatoes are green and firm af (and tasteless) and then gassed with ethylene right before hitting stores so they look red on the outside. Canned tomatoes are much better in this regard, but then you have stuff like calcium chloride in diced tomatoes that taste awful but are necessary to preserve firmness.

Regulation is written by the telecom companies and they put enough loophole in them to let them do what they want anyway, and probably throw in some tax loopholes too for good measure. More tax dollars for the rich.

And unregulated is just as bad since they just do what they want anyway. What you need to understand is that the republicans and democrats just have different approaches to making you poorer, and either one is bad.

Not to mention the quality of my service declines every day.

If liberals and minorites suddenly embraced guns and started arming and open carrying in deeply red areas up how long you think it'd be before the cuckservatives completely reverse their position on gun control?

Companies can't have their very own ethical standards in a way ethical means something. That's why there is state to be ethical and regulate non-ethical bullshit of theirs.

You guys realize 4chan and pretty much all image boards, hentai, anime streaming sites, pretty much anything that interests the average 4chan user will likely be outright blocked?

They aren't doing a very good job at the moment.

Because state is deeply linked to corporate bullshit. Free market was total mistake and I blame fuckin Chicago school for this, american military complex and their "freedom" shit where there were no aristocracy, only rich and poor and quite strong middle class which ruined revolutionary state in France and somewhat created today' Murica. Democracy and freedoms at general are functional only in ideal society where everyone is educated and have no means to harm anybody because of some silly money. I blame globalization too, which undermined sustainable autarchy that was kind of normal at the time.
Shame we "europeans" jumped inconsistently on democracy train instead of continual transition to freedoms and minimal state.

America is truly the worst country on the planet with the worst people as well.

It's going to get passed. I mean, what do you expect when your fucking people won't even fight for universal healthcare let alone mandatory vacations or other things that most western countries take for granted due to not being a bunch of self-centered idiots. People would rather bend over for corporations than help their neighbour.

I mean, why the fuck do you not want everyone in your fucking country to be happy, you fucking retards?

America is going to fucking crash so hard in the next couple of decades due to baby boomers fucking over the next generation so fucking hard by underpaying their wages (EVERYONE MINIMUM WAGE NOW :) ) and overcharging for shit like housing.

Good fucking job, the most corrupt country in the world yet you idiots do nothing about it.

It'll be stop. In the state of NC there was a movement of municipal internet companies popping up that would provide really great broadband speeds to rural areas. Time Warner got pissed off because they didn't want a competitor in their area that is willing to expand. At first they tried to bribe the NC house and senate to pass laws to fix the prices to the speeds in the state but the NC government told them to fuck off. They came back recently and got a new law passed that bans municipal internet companies from expanding outside of their town/city. So those ISPs that were giving great speeds to rural areas all had to stop servicing their customers and they got stuck back on shitty DSL.
>>
>>60966088
>and that GMOs
GMO is banned here lol and I live in EU.

Why should you pay for a road or bridge you will never drive on? Why should you pay for a park you will never visit? Why should you pay for the salary of a politician that isn't even in your district?
>>
>>60970612
Because I have to. That's the law. I don't like paying for things I will never use but I see it as paying to not get jailed instead. Why the fuck would I willingly increase what I need to pay to stay out of jail?
>>
>>60970364
Just visit a cheap-as-fuck shop who buys cheap tomatoes and has no proper cooling.
Basically, they have to store them properly after the harvest, then you need a properly cooled truck - one that is prepared to cool vegetables and for the last part, you need a storage in the shop where it is kept at the right temperature AND it is equipped properly.

If any of these fail you get these tasteless, shit tasting tomatoes. They change in taste, texture.
The point is, it has nothing to do with "muh GMO". They tried to save on costs and this is what they end up with.
We always send our quotations in with all the equipment they need, but we also lose jobs because our price becomes higher due to the extra items.

very tl;dr: if I were to put one GMO and "regular" tomato in front of these complaining tinfoil fucks, they could not ever tell the difference.

Why don't you just live off the grid in the woods then? You don't have to pay taxes out there. Seems you're more against civilization than anything else.

Because a life paying taxes and being in society is more comfortable than living off the grid. What kind of retarded question is that?
>>
>>60970701
So you want the benefits of civilization but without actually doing anything to contribute to it? All your government is asking you to do here is pay some money to them and to not break mostly reasonable laws. A lot of the nice comfortable things that are provided to us is through taxes that we pay.
>>
>>60970725
I do contribute to it you idiot. I pay my taxes like a good citizen should. That doesn't mean I advocate for raising my payments to susidize the health care of the unhealthy.
>>
>>60970744
Why do you believe a person doesn't have the right to healthcare just because they can't afford it? If government help provide the costs for healthcare then it's in their best interest to make sure their citizens don't get fat and pick up bad habits to start with.
>>
>>60970756
Why do you believe a person doesn't have the right to a fancy car and a McMansion just because they can't afford it? Why would McFatfuck give a shit about watching his eating when he knows that any health issues he has will be paid by daddy government?
>>
>>60970756
Also, I frankly don't care about other people. I can afford health care, and take care of my health to ensure lower costs, so I'm not going to support a policy that brings added costs and no benefit to me regardless of any moral arguments.

>>
>>60970987
No. They should have access to things that are good enough that they are given the chance to succeed and live a healthy life. You don't have to pamper people. Of course you could always have the options of buying from the marketplace where they will usually have superior service at a preminum if you're willing to pay.

are you a fucking bug? do you know the mechanics of why it's bug-resistant? would you rather your food be injected or sprayed with chemicals that are actually harmful to you? or would you rather just die of famine?
there are many bad things about big agro, but people focus on the one that doesn't matter because it has only 3 letters and it's an easy fear-tactic for retards to believe in.
