>>

Yes, but you can't use the standard Scandinavian layout because TempleOS treats Alt and AltGr as the same key. This German layout is probably as close as you'll get:

He gets a random number and then goes to that line in the bible, or he generates a random list of words.

I want to build a Temple OS machine with fixed hardware and I'm considering getting a udoo x86 because it has GPIO pins, but sadly it doesn't have SIMD extensions. Does anyone know if Terry's graphics layer uses SSE and AVX? Because if it doesn't, I'm going to buy the Udoo.

>>60968611
I do, but I actually like TempleOS, so I'm glad that he lost his mind. No sane person would dedicate 13 years of their life to write a compiler and x86 operation system from scratch. I just wish he would drop the autism and support UEFI with modern resolutions. Or at least Mode X with 256 colors. 4 bit color sucks.

How do you plan to use an IDE-only OS on something that doesn't have IDE by the looks of it?
>>
>>60971421
Doesn't TOS support SATA? Isn't SATA backwards compatible to ATA (IDE)?
>>
>>60971158
I could actually add Mode X and SoundBlaster audio to TempleOS. I have written that for a DOS game in the past. Alas, I have no time for it now. Maybe in a decade or two.
>>
>>60971452
No and no.

On a lot of (but not all) desktop PC systems you can set your SATA to operate as an IDE controller. This however doesn't imply that SATA would be IDE compatible or that every system would necessary include this function.
>>
>>60971465
The UDOO is literally a x86 IBM compatible with UEFI and CSM BIOS everything. I would imagine that the cookie cuter sata controller has a backwards compatible mode. If this is possible, can I operate an SSD in IDE mode?

>>60971460
I would prefer actual USB support first. Also how can I get 60 FPS?
>>
>>60971506
>If this is possible, can I operate an SSD in IDE mode?
in that case, yes.
>>
>>60971506
>>60971465
>>60971568
Shit. Seems like the Intel SOC doesn't support SATA mode.
https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/datasheets/pentium-celeron-n-series-datasheet-vol-1.pdf

But I really want a fully open and hackable Temple OS PC where I can use OUT and IN instructions directly. Is there any x86 hardware that suits my needs? Also how hard would it be to implement SATA support in TOS?
>>
>>60971582

LOL
>>
>>60971677
Stop being elitist. I'm only 22. When I learned how computers work on a low level IDE was long dead and buried, so I never ran into the problem. Which chipset/socket would you recommend for a Temple OS machine?
>>
>>60971460
Yeah, it's simple enough to access the same way you would if you were writing a DOS game, you'd suspend WinMgr and switch to Mode X, then you're on your own, no Gr/DC libs. SB stuff is just OutU8(0x22x/24x, ...); SB emulation on most emulators is pretty rough, and I can't think of a 64-bit system w/ ISA slots.

Also, Terry wrote a Intel HD Audio driver, it's on the Supplemental disc.
>>
>>60971842
>no Gr/DC libs
But I want Gr WITH mode x. Doesn't mode x use the exact same amount of memory as terry's meme video mode?
>>
>>60971842
>Terry wrote a Intel HD Audio driver
So no more single voice PWM chiptunes? Sad. I loved those.
>>
>>60971911
>But I want Gr WITH mode x
Then you'd have to add support for it, and update every time Terry makes a change to Gr/DC that breaks your patchset.
>>
>>60972085
>every time Terry makes a change to Gr/DC that breaks your patchset.
How often does that happen? Will TempleOS ever have a stable api?
>>
>>60971920
>no more single voice
God said single-voice, it's in the Charter. The Supplemental disc contains examples, experiments and code scraps, stuff not meant to be in standard distro TempleOS, like USB and, in this instance, HD audio.
>>
God bless you, Terry.
>>
>>60972144
Does this work with native or emulator only? What else does supplemental support? Does Terry accept patches?
>>
>>60971506
USB support is infeasible. There are like several dozen standards covering it, several hundred pages each. It's going up in versions faster than any of us could implement them.
>>
>>60972142
>How often does that happen?
It happened 2 days ago, Terry added CDate and x0,y0 offset to CDC class which broke all previously generated GR.Z files, I wrote a converter to update my old files to the new format.
>Will TempleOS ever have a stable api?
When Terry becomes head of Intel, we will see Standard TempleOS PC Version 1.0, which will contain "LTS" version of TempleOS burned into ROM, unchanged for 7 years until Version 2.0 of the spec is announced.
>>
Holy shit, I just read the story behind this OS. I never knew it was so batshit crazy and entertaining, no wonder you guys follow this shit!

>>
Where can I find source code for TempleOS?
>>
>>60972235
holy frick dude!!!??? i just realized it???
>>
>>60972157
He used the HD Audio driver on his older videos. I never got it working but I don't see why it wouldn't work on native, probably just needs the right device ID and a few minor tweaks. Here's a link to the directory tree of a slightly older version of the Sup1 disc:

https://templeos.sheikhs.space/Wb/Home/Sup1/

The disc image on the TempleOS website is corrupt, I can post a link to the one I use if you'd like. Terry doesn't typically accept patches, however if it's something significant that fits with the vision of TempleOS, I think he would consider it.
>>
>>60972283
The OS itself IS source code, everything is JIT compiled.
>>
>>60972312
How are you even supposed to use the supplemental disc? Do you just rename it to an iso and insert it as an optical disc in your VM?
>>
>>60972369
Yep, that's what works for most, just attach it to the virtual cdrom and type DskChg('T');

I have it built into my boot scripts as ::/Home/Sup1, you could also mount the file as a disc image in TempleOS with MountFile("TOS_Supplemental1.ISO.C");
>>
Here's a link to a working Supplemental ISO.C (with FileBMP and Sup1Snd)

https://my.mixtape.moe/bkwkbb.C
>>
>>60972414
Weird. With VirtualBox I get some crazy error just trying to insert the iso into the virtual optical drive.

All memes aside, how feasible would it be for us to design a TempleOS PC? Can Intel do anything if we use chinks to build our own x86 SOCs? Could we just design our own x86 motherboard? What exactly is the partnership between asus, msi etc and Intel/AMD?

Me! Me! Me! But unfortunately my EE skills don't extend beyond making funny images appear on my oscilloscope. I know x86 assembly, though. I would really like to see if it is possible to get an actual documentation of every single pin on an AM4 or LGA155X socket. I suppose they keep it under NDA to keep chinks from making x86 clones without a license. Maybe we should just reverse engineer some asus firmware?
