Apple is finished and bankrupt. Intel and AMD fags on suicide watch.

Checked

Now find me a powerful ARM core besides Apple ones and K12.

Intel is suing them over it though.

Ohoho good luck them with that.

GNU/Linux systems have been able to do this for years.

Too bad Linux is absolutely irrelevant on desktop.

For what purpose?

running programs compiled targeting on x86 on your arm device.

can it run native arm applications thought?

Apple is moving it's MacBooks to ARM too though

It's Intel that is finished.

Nope, Linux requires a recompile. Windows is using an emulator.

running programs compiled targeting a more powerful arhcitecture on a weaker architecture doesn't sound like such a great idea.
>>
>>60957035
It's almost as if the program working at all is better than it not working.
>>
>>60956600
neat

>you can run more garbage software on your garbage software
>locked bootloaders will prevent you from replacing the garbage software
>laptops are phones now
Oh boy, how exciting.

>>60956631
It's about battery efficiency, not computing power. You can do every basic computing task on a Raspberry Pi. You don't need a 16 core 4GHz CPU to do web browsing and word processing, dumbass.

>>60956658
They're really biting the hand that feeds them. Maybe Intel will start working with the free software community after they lose half their shekels to Qualcomm.

>>60956712
Yes, it will be able to run ARM apps.

>>60957035
The newest Qualcomm chips will perform just as good as most of the dual core mobile chips from Intel. ARM isn't a weaker architecture at all, at least for mobile stuff. x86 will still be a better choice for powerful workstations, all in ones, or desktop replacements. Light laptops that are advertised to have all day battery life and quiet fans will benefit greatly from ARM CPUs.
>>
>>60957077
Or, you know, you could use programs actually compiled for your architecture. Assembler optimizations also will only work that way.
>>
>>60957125
Businesses who run off of legacy software can't just call up the developers and ask them to compile a program from a company that shutdown 10 years ago for the ARM architecture.
>>
>>60956600
Does that mean I'll be able to run win32 programs on my Windows 10 phone too?
>>
Nyet, native x86 are fine.

>>
will this version of windows 10 run on raspberry pi?
>>
>>60956965
Hmm, I guess they are not running any emulated processes given that CPU utilization. That'll be where the problems come in.
>>
>>60956632
>intel suing microsoft
AHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
>>
>>60956658
Yeah, good luck. This Intel lawsuit is so laughable it's ridiculous. You can sue some small business on no legal grounds just to bully them but this is Microsoft and Qualcomm we're talking about.

>>60956680
>>60956690
The x86 emulation for ARM that they are talking about isn't really relevant, it's essentially a marketing-ploy. Go buy the ARM laptop because we promise you'll be able to run all your usual programs - except that it'll be Windows 10S and you're locked into the Microsoft appstore where all the binaries will have native ARM versions anyway.

>>60957269
>the problems
There won't be any. The vast majority will use it as a Facebook-machine and never use that emulation. It's not going to be marketed as a ThreadRipper killing workstation, it'll basically be glorified tablets with a keyboard attached running Windows. Your parent's won't have a problem using it to check facebook.
>>
>>60957574
I don't think it's windows 10s because they showed photoshop and chrome running on it. Windows 10 s apps aren't win32 anyhow.
>>
>>60957942
Means nothing.
>>
>>60957942
They are obviously not going to market that you won't be able to run anything outside of the Windows appstore but wait and watch, the machines will come with Windows 10S and you'll have to "upgrade" to get that slow emulation working - which nobody will do because you'll want something more powerful to do much beyond normie facebook browsing.

It'll sell. Not to /g/ but it'll sell.
>>
>crappy ass emulation
>intel & amd is kill
hAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
>>
>>60958279
>crappy ass
intel mobile cpu are crappy ass, 835sd pretty outperforms any mobile i3-i5.
835sd have 8 real cores. Most mobile i3-i5 only have 2 real cores.
835 have better ipc than i3/5.
i3/5 starts to trotlle, because it overheats easily. 835 doesnt have this problem in laptops.
You can expect much more powerul ARM cpus, if they catch on in laptops. There is a reason nobody uses intel cpus in mobile phones.
>>
>>60958405
0/10
>>
cant they just do command translation like apple's rosetta?
>>
>>60956846
QEMU is a full or partial system emulator. It can also run software meant for one ISA on a completely different ISA.
>>
>>60958279
Emulation can achieve acceptable performance. Most applications the end user will interact with will likely be ported (windows built in applications, ms office, web browser), the emulator would only be needed for a handful of things that aren't ported.
>>
>>60958439
He's right quit shitting your pants shill

C/C# masterrace is rising
>>
>>60957168
Thats the end goal I believe
>>
>>60957090
>You don't need a 16 core 4GHz CPU to do web browsing and word processing, dumbass.
You have never used MS Word.
>>

When will Apple 'invent' this?
>>
>>60956680
using your docked smartphone as desktop PC.
>>
>>60960535
Have you? It works fine on a Haswell Pentium
>>
>>60956664
But GNU is not a kernel you probably wanted to say Linux.
>>
>>60958405
Are you fucking retarded???????????????
>>
>>60958405
835 is faster than mobile i3/i5 cpus because geekbench score says so?
Do you even understand what's the difference between x86 and arm architectures?
>There is a reason nobody uses intel cpus in mobile phones.
Because there is no good mobile OS that fully supports x86 platform. Android has notorious compatibility issues with non-x86 apps for example.
