So I've got this Voodoo 3 2000 pci and I'm thinkin of building a kinda retro matx box around it. I've got a old opteron 170/matx board/4gb ram packed away somewhere so i figure i could just reuse them. Thing is that I read somewhere some time back that higher clocked cpu's (Opteron is clocked at 2.0 Ghz) can damage the older voodoo's cause they get fed so much data they can't handle it and overheat. So is this right or will my voodoo be ok with the opteron?

You should try and grab a Ti4600 instead, a voodoo3 2000 will be absolutely underwhelming for a 2Ghz opteron box.
A 256MB 9800XTX is the killer go-to for "retro" (DX8.1, early DX9) games, although there's only one ebay listing (ending in 32 hours)
