So all they do in the future is automatically bad because of that? Many other common kernel components where even developed by intel agencies directly, such as the hardened Linux thing packed by default in many distros. Why aren't you complaining about those though? Seems that you're rather ignorant and read too many posts written by ignorant people.
>also systemd is big and unreadable because "security"
No. It's open source. You should be able to read it and point specifically what's wrong with it. There's no excuse. Either bring proof or stop spouting ignorant claims.

Red Hat, a company that basically sells tech support for linux, decided it would be wise to make linux even more complicated and strange so they took over a lot of the core mechanisms of the OS, forced them on everyone, mucked around w/ them to make an inoperable cluster-fuck of system utilities and permissions management that only red hat can figure out, and called it systemd. Some people don't like how the whole thing turned out.
>>
>>60955302
>>60952159
It isn't developed by Red Hat.
It is developed by individuals, from many companies.
The two most important developers are also from different companies. Lennart Poettering is from Red Hat, and Kay Sievers is from SUSE.

Funtoo on laptop, Gentoo on personal servers.

Why do I not like systemd? I don't care about my system booting in few seconds, when debugging and fixing problems, that would be simple otherwise, takes me few hours.
It hijacks all logs, so /var/log becomes pretty useless. You cannot handle logs with simple unix tools, you need systemd tools for that. That is, when the logfiles do not get corrupted. When they do, they are completely useless.
It fucks up name resolution pretty hard. It took me a lot of time, to notice that systemd-resolved hijacks the name resolution system, so software that can can use systemd's DNS API uses it, but other software fallbacks to other ways of name resolution. It's fucking frustrating, when dig and
nslookup
resolve names correctly, but your software still doesn't work, attempting connections to some ass retarded IPs, or failing at resolving anything at all. Good luck using a VPN, which overrides DNS entries for the intranet, that otherwise resolve to wrong IPs from the internet.
Hell, I would swallow five minutes of booting, if it meant I wouldn't have to deal with systemd's bullshit. It's not like I boot my systems everyday.

>>60955324
Kay Sievers works for Red Hat since at least 2012.

Its literally one of the only case where there were 12 competing standards and a company made a 13th competing standard and everyone saw that it was good and then unified to avoid the clusterfuck mess that was before it.

It's funny how systemd haters spend so much time whining about it and even consider switching distros because of it. I mean, if you can afford to switch distors every week because of some minor nuances, clearly your usage patterns don't go further than screenfetch.

Meanwhile, I've been an Arch-fag since 2009 so I've been using systemd since 2012, I believe, and during this time I had to deal with it only a couple of times, otherwise, it just works.
>>
>>60961583
SUSE and Redhat or SUSE and Microfocus?
>>
>>60961751
SUSE and Micro Focus, but mostly SUSE.
From what I have found, Asia, Pacific & Japan (APJ) is the smallest market, International being the core one with almost 4 time higher revenue than APJ, and North America being not much behind International.

Devuan and I'm thankful for the project.

Please point to the file and line number(s) where the backdoor exists. It's completely open source, so this should be trivial for you.

Unless you're saying the code being open source doesn't matter one iota when it comes to finding backdoors because most people never bother anyways, but that goes against literally every piece of freetard propaganda ever made.

Pick one.

Ironic post since USB's domination of the market has resulted in the people in charge of registering IDs being able to rip off anyone developing new products.

* Does way way way too much (see the hippo gif). Why does an init system need the ability to generate QR codes? Why does it need to handle ntp when ntpd exists and works fine? On and on and on. NIH bloat for bloat's sake.

* Effectively ruins modularity. (systemd itself is nominally modular, but it represents such a fast moving target that third party systemd modules won't realistically ever exist) - huge swathes of your system are being subsumed into a monoculture. Which I wouldn't have a problem with but:

* Its developers have a shockingly poor attitude (generally of the form of making messes and expecting others to clean up after or work around them)

And it's not one of these things that's the problem, it's all three of them taken as a whole.
>>
>>60960697

Anyone old enough to remember how RedHat ruined the "Linux Standard Base"?
