Are there any applications on windows we actually give a shit enough about that we can't get a superior alternative on our unix-likes?
No gaymes.

Personally I'm unwilling to use LibreOffice, and OneNote isn't replaceable. Other than that though all of my software has a Linux port or works under WINE.

LibreOffice is a good way to represent the Windows/*nix dichotomy as it is right now. A pessimistic person might claim that MS deliberately sabotaged (or at least neglected) their own standards to prevent competition; but, despite all the disdain I have for MS and proprietary software in general, that kind of outlook is pretty juvenile. Most of it is, in my opinion, due to the way *nix operating systems are distributed. Back when you could go down to your library and borrow a copy of the Ubuntu manual with installation CD included, it was normal for a consumer to a) read the manual b) do a little extra work for a product that their peers/family/coworkers endorsed. GNU/Linux, nowadays, has the advantage of online distribution, but it's also a drawback that comes from a fundamental aspect of free software: it's very difficult to treat free software (and often times condoned by its progenitors; i.e. Stallman) as a "material commodity". The average consumer just can't grasp the concept of a good, usable product without the suffocating restrictions of intellectual property. Apple, on the other hand, refuses to support hardware besides their own mostly out of brand protection. What does this have to do with the availability of software on *nix? Market share. Demand. No one's going to make software for an OS no one uses. Why doesn't anyone use that OS? Because there's no software for it.

I remember seeing a good alternative, I think ether draw/note. I've only used it for about fifteen minutes, but it looked promising.
Some of Altera's FPGA tools aren't compatible with Linux.

Otherwise, fuck Windows. I don't feel safe using my computer on assignment. If we didn't live in a 24 hour news cycle, I could just smuggle MicroSD cards out of places in my asshole or something, but that's not an option anymore.
