If you want productivy, use either unity or i3wm or another tiling wm.

If you want rice-ability, use kde.

I can't say much about gnome or xfce. I use xfce when I have normies by and they have to use my computer, or when I have need of a normal stacking window DE.

Mostly I'm on i3wm.
