The best answer lies in technology. For one Nvidia is almost entirely graphics technologies. They do not have CPU research or patents to their name.


Amd has a different problem. Only recently has amd been able to effectively provide an answer to an i5 or i7. Furthermore increased power and heat are indeed problems facing AMD for this market. It is likely with the success of ryzen and apparently assured success of its next gen as Intel's lineup seems slightly below par we may see AMD manage to gain a small foothold in the high-end portable CPU market
