Ok, some days ago an anon posted screenshots of a light resources version of both Windows 10 and 7 (they needed only ~5GB of space and used little RAM too).

He said he would upload the images and post on /sqt/.

I have a problem with my pc running windows 10. I have two screens and sometimes the screens die and one goes completely white and the other completely blue until I restart the computer.

I thought the problem was my graphics card, but I checked the drivers 100 times and even had it stress tested on another machine yet there it works fine. Any ideas what the problem might be?

What's the best approach for getting rid of the new generation of web-page "popups"?

These occur when you begin reading a web page, and then sometime within the first 15 seconds, the page goes dark and is overlaid with some marketing crap that obscures the content underneath it.

Note that these popups are now often coded in CSS, meaning that turning off JavaScript isn't enough.

I'd like to normally have JavaScript and CSS mostly active by default, but I just want to turn off the specific popup features for all sites except a whitelist.

What's the best way to do this?

I have a Galaxy7 and ever since I've updated the top of the screen (notification panel) and some top of menus get lost in the background--the areas boxed in yellow in sections 2 and 3 of pic.
Section 1 everything looks normal.

Been trying to fix it for a few days, but nothing.

How come some things are cheaper at Walmart than the exact same item was at Sam's Club? I mean they're owned by the same company, and the latter is supposed to be the whole membership-only wholesale gig, so what the hell?

Bring it up because I was in the market for a PS4 controller and noticed they were ten bucks more at Sam's Club (though Costco had the same price Walmart did) which seemed odd to me.

Hello,

Posted here yesterday morning asking about Defragging. I had my computer defragging most of the day whilst I was using it and by the time it came to go to bed it said it was only around 5% complete.

I decided to stop the defragging, shut down the PC and carry on today. I've done the same thing today, it's been running since this morning and this is how far it has come, it's been on this file for about an hour now.

Is this normal? Should I just defrag as much as I can then resume the next day until it reaches 100% ?

Uninstalling old drivers isn't really necessary in most cases, however if you want to be as clean as possible you can look up for some driver removal tools (I forgot the exact name), boot up off those and launch them, they'll delete everything nvidia/amd related they find, after that just plug in your gpu and install newest drivers.

sneaky cat

it's a progressive jpeg, meaning it's possible to display a degraded, but whole image without all the data
it could be;
a. a renderer bug
b. a lack of memory to complete the decode (probably not likely)
c. an incomplete file (probably most likely)

>>
>>60931490
the fact that the same file works properly in one viewer and not another, that rules out an incomplete file (though not strictly an otherwise bad file)
it's also less likely to be a memory issue, i'm not expecting it to be one with such a relatively low resolution image
it's probably a renderer bug, specifically in quickpic. not much you can do about that

as far as "just make it werk" goes, here's the image converted over to baseline (non-progressive). lossless conversion

Cheers. Your image loads properly in Quicpic for me, as seemingly every other pic I've opened with it besides this original not rendering properly. And here is another screenshot of the resaved pic not loading properly.

I tried restarting the tablet, clearing Quickpic data (which deletes settings), even saving from the stock browser, but the original was still failing to properly render. There was another imageviewer I'd used a few years ago called "AA image viewer"- it by default had three rendering options when you tapped the screen, which I never knew the differences for. I don't think Quickpic has an option for that, so yeah it just doesn't play well with this specific image, I suppose.

I don't think memory is a problem, since contantly I find opened apps will have their instance wiped if I even switch to another app, or use another app for a while. Plus even when only Quickpic was open it wasn't finishing rendering. Thanks for the help, and the copy of the image which works for me. Much love.

i think you've done a good job ruling out basically anything besides simply being a quickpic renderer bug, which you can only really avoid by satisfying it with a copy of the image transformed to something that doesn't trigger the bug, in this case the transformation was lossless, so the end result is essentially the same (the non-progressive version was actually even 1.01% smaller)

I'm trying to upgrade an unlicensed Windows 7 Pro 64 bit to Windows 10 (via the accessibility upgrade still on offer) and when I try and crack (via Windows Loader) it tells me something like "unsupported partion table".
I find out Windows Loader doesn't support GPT and that I have to reinstall Windows and make sure it has a MBR instead. Okay, whatever.
I made sure Secure Boot was disabled and that CSM was enabled, yet it still defaults the partion to GPT while installing, with no option to change during the installation process.

Is there something else I'm overlooking? Is there a different method I should try?

First thing I would do, is crack open your case and take out and examine each part for wear, then smell each part to see if you can distinguish where the smell is coming from.

You say that your computer runs at this temp running two programs! That's outrageous! My CPU runs at 17 C while in the case it's around 30 C and that's with over 30 different Chrome tabs open. For the time being I'm stuxk on a broken ass old netbook so slow I'm surprised chrome works decently on it. Other browsers(like firefox) are slower and easily cause it to extremely slow down and crash.
Cant use anything other than XP because it is not mine so I can't install another OS, I tried running a linux ubuntu portable OS off USB but it is ultimately slower and more unstable than running XP.

Check startup programs, see if anything suspicious or just plain doesn't need to be there. Run antivirus scan, though it's possible whatever is slowing you down won't be detected. It's also possible your antivirus itself is acting up for whatever reason and causing the slowdown so try disabling it for a bit. Why does my google drive folder keep getting its permissions changed, it adds a null SID and a pc\None user and it prevents several files from being synced properly.

Is there any real disadvantage to lowering my internet security if I don't live near anyone? I have WPA2 and I want to lower it to WPA so my psp can connect as a controller. What would be the downside if there isn't anyone to steal my wifi password?

I have a bunch of .mkv files. They contain multiple audio and subtitle tracks. I want to remove everything but the Japanese audio and the English subtitles, what is the best way to go about doing this without remuxing and worsening the video quality?
Ideally the program should be able to do this in batches.

I haven't used windows in a while so I'm a bit out of the loop
My dad's computer has got some shitware on it, malwarebytes seemed to find it but it reappeared after a reboot.
He of course hasn't kept up with backups so nuke and reinstall isn't an option atm

Just shut it down and hit power button takes about 10 seconds. Got this laptop today seemed fast but I've never used a SSD so 10 seconds is pretty fast for me.

how do I set up a dual monitor wallpaper on windows?
>>

From off to on 10 seconds?
Then yeah its good.

You should measure from the second you hit the power button till you hit password or desktop screen.
>>
>>60935674
1. windows/mac screen settings
2. driver software
3. in rare instances, boot to bios
>>

use a terminal-based unix browser

or, if you're too normal for that, just find an extension for that

I was actually thinking of using W3M, or whatever it's called but I decided against it. I'm getting used to this no-mouse thing.
Thanks for the advice -- I just wish there was a way to do it in Firefox.

It's literally in the filename.
>>
>>60936317
You dont do it per client, you do it per network interfac
>>
>>60936317
a vpn is a second network you sign into after you sign into your local one
so you go from your network to their network to 4chan, and then back to theirs and back to yours

I have a choice between two laptop batteries. The first is a 14.4 V, 5200mAh, and the second is a 10.8 V 6600mAh. Which one would be better? Am I right to assume the voltage corresponds to charging time, and the amps hours correspond to capacity?

Ok, I want to upgrade my ssd in my laptop, and since it has 2 drives installed, I'm thinking I should migrate the os
from the main C drive that is currently full at 60GB, to the D drive, which has more than enough space

My question is, can I migrate my OS to the secondary drive,
which still has files on it, and then migrate the OS back to the new SSD after I install it?
>>
>>60936641
Use clonzilla
Put the system drive and ssd in and then clone it to the ssd

a couple of the nyaa replacement sites aren't loading for me anymore.

nyaa.pantsu.cat
and
sukebei.pantsu.cat

Both used to load fine. Now however in firefox I just get a blank page and the tab just says new tab, in chrome i get This site can’t be reached with ERR_SPDY_INADEQUATE_TRANSPORT_SECURITY. I even tried IE where I get Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

Some googling led me to believe that maybe it's a dns problem but I've changed it and same results. It's only doing it on my desktop. the sites load fine on my laptop and phone via the same wifi connection.

replacing it..

no, it's an 8-bit panel that dithers to "10-bit" by alternating colors each frame

though that said, i use a common 1080p, 6-bit panel with 8-bit dithering, and it's really noticable during certain kinds of motion
i'd imagine it to be very difficult to notice 8>10bit dither on a 4k panel at all

Basically I've noticed random keyboard presses and many different programs opening and stuff.
Like all of a sudden chrome searched up kpop. I don't even listen to kpop.
My disk usage is at 100%.
Malware bytes turns up nothing

Should I reinstall windows?
