VirtualBox or Hyper-v

What's better and why?

Are you going to be using more than one VM regularly?
Hyper-V
Do you just need one or two alternate environments for testing purposes?
VirtualBox

This, though if you have a 2012r2 or 2016 data center key, you can use AVMA with Hyper-V.

why does that matter? More than one VM at once ? what's wrong with using multiple VMs on vbox?

Not that anon, but nothing, as far as I can see. I've got 20+ VMs built and saved in VBox on my Win 7 machine, and they all work fine.

If you're talking about running VMs concurrently/at the same time, well that's limited only by your computer's capabilities. I tend to only run one at a time to avoid straining my computer overmuch, but the few times I've had two or more running concurrently, VBox has seemed to handle them just fine.

>VirtualBox

Compatible with other Oracle virtualization products making it easy to move virtual machines and around

Works relatively well

Free

>Hyper-v

Might be a bit harder to move your VM's to another platform (To my knowledge)

Built into Windows

Has a great Powershell interface that allows you control virtual machines and script various functions

I've noticed that resolution autoscaling works better on Hyper-V allowing me to stretch a VM across two monitors without any problems.

Free on Windows 10 Pro and above

Honestly it just really depends on the feature set you need.
