How does /g/ prefer their arrow keys?
>>60915361
"Filthy normie." I might be okay with "flower," "square," and "Swiss."
hjkl
filthy normie is objectively the best. lowest distance finger has to pass from arrow up to arrow down

Swiss looks pretty comfy to be fair
>>60915361
Diaperfag makes most sense but swss is not bad either
swiss should not be included tho, because copy is cheating.
Reasoning: filthy normie has BOTTOM RIGHT,BOTTOM LEFT,BOTTOM and one "up" key
Diaperfag has correctly up,down,right,left
Where's the linear layout? Left->Down->Up->Right
Like HJKL and similar
>>60915630
I've been using mine like that for the past couple months. Seems fine so far.

I get super and meta, but why hyper when literally everything ever calls it fn?
>>60916180
precisely because nothing uses hyper it's always safe to map your own hotkeys to it
Filthy normie, candybar or flower for me.

It's a throwback to the Space Cadet.

filthy normie is how i play my fighting games
ive always been interested in this considering im building a custom UMPC soon
i was thinking about a staggered ergonomic design where the right arrow is a bit above the left to account for index/ring finger lengths
none of the examples represent this sadly
>>60915361
aren't the "candybar", "diaperfag", and the 3rd "flower" all the same???
shouldn't they be in the same category?
Also why include joypad?
Now you need to include Dpad and trackpads and ball mice and analog sticks as interfaces
>>60916776
>aren't the "candybar", "diaperfag", and the 3rd "flower" all the same???
Kind of, I count them separatedly because the keys on each category have different sizes
>Also why include joypad?
The joystick picture is from a Sony MSX computer that you could screw the joystick in the middle of the arrow keys and the machine will read the joystick the same as the arrows

Its called "swiss" because its a cross, just like switzerland's flag

Can't wait until vi is nothing more than a bad memory
People STILL use arrow keys? It's 2017 grandpa. Use a touchscreen.

The shitty d-pad placement on xbox pad alone makes it inferior.
>>60925039
That's exactly why it's better. D-pad feels worse than on dualshock, but the placement is better.

I feel like the 360s dpad is superior in birds eye view shooters and 2d fighting/platformer games
the 360 style is bad for accurate low response actions within FPS games (switching weapons in a firefight) and rythm games

I was just trolling with the 360 controller. The original dpad was fucking abysmal. You know I googled "xbox 360 dpad" and all I could find were mods to fix the original, most of them being replacing it with a PS2 dpad.
PS dpad is IMHO one of the best dpad designs.
>>60924983
I used to be a Sonyfag and I disagree.
The d-pad is better though.
>>60915361
Filthy normie, since it's most common
ITT: redditfags
>>60927474
Wat
It's not even in the shape of any arrow keys. Like, I know ESDF is used unironically (I used it in some games, since it gives you easy access to QA and then you can stretch to hit the huge Tab/CapsLock keys easily too), I could understand a similar meme for DXCV or SZXC for some inane reason, but DXZC sounds like just randomly mashed letters.
>>60915361
filthy normie since it's the best. your fingers are paralell 90% of the time and you only need to move for the up key.

I use a 40% keyboard to program all day every day.
After a few minutes of practice, the superiority and benefits of not having to move from the homerow become obvious and completely quell any baseless worries about function layers.
>>60932991
I honestly agree in principle but 40% is just too small.
50% is something I'd use though (if I could get a fucking kit for not $300)
>>60934133

I had the same terrible keyboard and thought having these keys would be awesome. They turned out to be pretty pointless. What do you use them for?
